Observations June 11, 2014 - Crowdfunding

This Bored has given me several opportunities to mention the brilliant campaign run by David Plouffe for President Obama, and one of his most innovative and effective strategies was the use of crowdfunding to raise massive amounts of money from many small contributors.
-- In Iroquois society, leaders are encouraged to remember seven generations in the past and consider seven generations in the future when making decisions that affect the people.

This word is only eight years old! More from the entry:

"Crowdsourcing," which typically refers to the practice of soliciting services, ideas, or content from a large group of people online, was coined by Jeff Howe in a 2006 article in Wired, and "crowdfunding" was created by entrepreneur Michael Sullivan in that same year.
