The Ultimate QoD Challenge -- Week 8, Friday
The ratings for this game are lackluster, but we're still hanging around. Just like WWTBAM.
ShamelessWeasel - 100% of 94 = 94
Bob Juch - 50% of 118 = 59
kroxquo - 68% of 54 = 36.72
smilergrogan - 15% of 60 = 9
jarnon - 25% of 26 = 6.5
Bob78164 - 10% of 50 = 5
themanintheseersuckersuit - 13% of 28 = 3.64
franktangredi - 0**% of 40 = 0**
** = It's definitely my mistake that Frank didn't submit a Fat Chance bet. I forgot to add the "Fat Chance bet: ___%" line at the end of yesterday's questions. For this one time only, I will allow him to give me a bet percentage with his answer, if he wants. I won't penalize him if he gives the obvious and wrong answer.
In the meantime, Weasel has a chance to gain some ground on Bob. It all depends on whether or not they can give me the correct answer to this question:
Give me the three-word title of the TV show that was hosted by both Steve Allen and Johnny Carson.
Your answer is due by Monday 6/9 at 4 PM EDT.

I appreciate the offer. Unfortunately, I don't know the answer. So I guess I dodged a bullet.
I can name shows they both appeared on, such as What's My Line, but not a show they both hosted other than the OWA.

I know what I am not answering...the tonight show since when Johnny hosted the show it was the tonight show starring Johnny Carson. More than 3 words.
I believe they both hosted the emmy's but that is also not good since the title is usually the ## Primetime Emmy Awards which is more than 3 words.
I got nothing after those so my answer is I don't know
I ain't catching Bob this week

Not The Tonight Show. I'm guessing it's whatever game show Johnny hosted before moving to Tonight whose name completely escapes me.

The Tonight Show
Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Re: The Ultimate QoD Challenge -- Week 8, Friday
Give me the three-word title of the TV show that was hosted by both Steve Allen and Johnny Carson.
This was just a really awful question. The kind of semantics question that you should probably expect from me by now.
The correct answer is not "The Tonight Show" for the simple fact that Steve never technically hosted "The Tonight Show". The late-night talk/variety show that we know as "The Tonight Show" was simply called "Tonight" when Steve hosted. The show didn't adopt its familiar name until 1962, after Jack Paar left. So Jack Paar never technically hosted "The Tonight Show" either.
There was a radio show hosted by Steve that eventually made the move to TV and was then hosted by Johnny. krox was right that it was a game show. He just couldn't think of the name. It was called "Earn Your Vacation".
Despite a couple of forfeits, nobody went all the way down to zero this week. 2 point bonus for everybody.
Weasel won this week, but Bob J still has that massive overall lead.
Week 8 Scores
ShamelessWeasel - 6 + 16 + 8 + 64 + 0 (+ 2) = 96
smilergrogan - 2 + 6 + 12 + 40 + 0 (+ 2) = 62
Bob Juch - 14 + 24 + 16 + 64 - 59 (+ 2) = 61
kroxquo - 4 + 2 + 8 + 40 + 0 (+ 2) = 56
Bob78164 - 2 + 8 + 0 + 40 - 5 (+ 2) = 47
franktangredi - 0 + 0 + 0 + 40 + 0 (+ 2) = 42
jarnon - 2 + 8 + 0 + 16 + 0 (+ 2) = 28
