Sally Forth: a minor league blog

#1 Post by Ritterskoop » Mon May 05, 2014 3:18 pm

My first post is up. I expect about ten posts over the summer as we visit each team or combination of teams.

Why don't you make a side trip to Durham to see the Bulls or Raleigh to see the Carolina Mudcats and I will join you.

We cover these both for the Raleigh paper - i handled the Mudcats file just last night.

I'll see if there is a day game for one of them on the way on our trip to Richmond for the northern trio. Should be a Sunday around July 28.

I'm loving your blog, Skoop! Vandal is right. You need to tweet too. I'm being encouraged to do it in my job and my goal this summer is to start blogging too!

Excellent.

I'm still thinking about the Swamp Dog. Not so much about the grits, but spicy sausage and shrimp has my taste buds pleading.

It was sort of a paste of shrimp-flavored grits. Good but not exceptional. You can make it better at home.

I was going to ask why you named your blog after a comic strip that appears completely unrelated to your quest, and then I realized what the title really meant...

We briefly discussed naming it something slightly different, but decided that the use of sallying forth as a military or adventure term had been around much longer than the comic strip.

Also, if anyone from Hearst reads it and complains, we will have exceeded our audience by a factor of hundreds.

Two new posts are up. One team left, next week, then a wrap-up post including Mom's favorites.

Well- this and the double meaning of you touring the home stadiums of the Sally League.

We are done sallying forth. Here's the final entry, with several observations from Mom:
