Favorite Restaurants in Dallas

Feel free to post a list of your favorite restaurants in Dallas. I have friends coming from Chicago and want to take them to a great restaurant.

My reviews are from March when I was in Dallas for the bridge tournament.

The Kitchen Table (Sheraton Downtown)---least liked of anyplace we ate--had the breakfast buffet and the food was very bland and needed lots of "extra" stuff to make it have any flavor at all. Can't remember the name, but also had a burger in the Sports Bar---it was ok but I did not return.

Porta Di Roma---I really liked this, reasonable price and tasty.

Sol Irlandes--Well, any Mexican food anywhere is pretty much better than what we get here. Loved the quacamole. Not the prettiest place, kinda drab, but good food.

Dallas Chop House---yes spendy, but presentation and quality of food top notch.

The Woolworth--- super trendy if you like that kind of thing. I was ok with it and would go back.

Dakota Restaurant--again very very spendy but great service, nice atmosphere and food was wonderful. Of course we got great service, we walked in and said we were from North Dakota and this Dakota name better live up our expectations. It did.

Ravenna--loved it, was my favorite of all. Nice atmosphere and reasonable prices.

My wife also did lunch at the following and had no complaints. Ellen's Southern Kitchen and Wild Salsa.

I ran across a place called Neighborhood Services that had amazing food. Terrible name though. They have gourmet hamburgers to large steaks. I had the London broil. Prices are rather reasonable (for Dallas).

Another one with a strange name is FT33, a bit north of downtown. They don't have a fixed menu. Everything on it when I went was rather exotic. Prices were very high.

Near FT33 is a place called just "Oak". Their menu was extremely global. I had a Moroccan lamb dish. Prices were moderate.

Look-up online reviews if you want but be aware there's considerable fraud with those.

I loved the Jack in the Box in Arlington just down the road from the Rangers' stadium....

North Dallas, Plano and Frisco are the desired locales.

For a mid-priced option, I say you can't go wrong with Pappadeaux.

Probably the best lasagna I've ever had in a restaurant was at Patrizio's. http://www.patrizios.net/

I love the Pappadeaux in Denver but the only one I've been to in the DFW area was in Duncanville and it sucked: bad food and worse service. At least they fired one waiter we complained about on the spot.

I know you said Arlington is too far, but I wanted to share my experience.
We ate at the Tin Cup in Arlington yesterday. It was some of the most amazing food I'd eaten in a while. Yes it was only a sandwich and salad, but I absolutely loved each bite. The employees were super friendly and not put out when they could tell I was a newbie.
