Camp Badger and Kid Brag

#1 Post by Spock » Tue Apr 15, 2014 11:33 am

The Spocklette just got news yesterday that she was accepted to Camp Badger.

http://campbadger.engr.wisc.edu/

A weeklong science and engineering camp for incoming 8th Graders at the University of Wisconsin. She will be attending the session at River Falls. I would have preferred a Madison session, for various reasons, but such is life and River Falls is a lot closer than Madison.

We have been looking for things like this for her. She is excited and a little nervous.

Littlest Spock (11YO in 5th Grade) just finished his Gun Safety classes. He got 49 of 50 on his test. I was visiting with one of the instructors (They had about 8 for 20 or so kids) and he said the instructors like to pick out(among themselves) the kid in the class who they think will get 100 on the test and they picked out Littlest Spock to get 100.

He did get one wrong, but I looked at it and I would classify it as a college-level resource management question, so I wasn't too hard on him for missing one.

We have kind of promised that youngest will get to go to Space Camp-but not this summer. Possibly Spocklette will get to go too.

I tried to get Li'l Spock (16YO and 10th Grade) to go on a geology/science thingie for high school kids in the Black Hills through the South Dakota School of Mines. But it is not sports-related so he has no interest. Spocklette has expressed interest though.
