Re: J! aud letter!
Focus your attention on 5 interesting things about yourself, and rehearse the "tell me about yourself", and "what would you do with the money" questions. They will likely ask you about one or two of the things you wrote on your interesting things list. The in person test I found to be easier than the online test, don't worry about it, you passed the harder one. You will play the mock game regardless of your in person test score. Follow their instructions exactly during the mock game. Keep the game moving, pick the next category immediately. Buzz in the way they tell you to (on the show do it how you want to, but during the audition, follow their instructions). Be upbeat, and show you are enjoying the experience. Good luck.

Great news! Dress like the players on the show, be bigger than normal, speak loudly and follow instructions when you play the mock game.
No such e-mail in my inbox, though.

I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Congrats, Ghost! I got my Hap-E-Mail on Thursday last, for an audition on 5/10 in Boston. Nice that I don't have to schlep to NYC like I did for Millionaire, and it's even on a Saturday for extra stresslessness (yeah, I made it up)... Hope to see you on the big stage sometime soon!

Congrats to you! See you there. (Unless there's more than one session; mine is at 3:00pm.)
Did you get your confirming letter with the actual site yet? I haven't, &, being me, am worrying. I RSVP'd. Twice. To their e-mail, as that's all I have. It's all I can do.

Whew! Got conf letter; Re: J! aud letter!
Congratulations! We are happy to confirm your appointment to participate in the full audition for Jeopardy!. That will consist of playing a “mock version” of Jeopardy! to assess your game-playing skills, a short personality interview, and being re-tested with a new 50-question test. If you pass all the requirements to become a contestant you will be entered into the contestant pool for one year. However even though you pass the test, we cannot guarantee that you will be invited to do the show. In fact, even though you are invited to the studio, there is no guarantee that you will appear on the show. You will be responsible for all expenses such as parking and travel to and from the audition center. If you are invited to Los Angeles to do the show you would also be responsible for expenses to come to Los Angeles.
From this wording it looks like you have to pass all the parts of the audition, including the "new 50-question test".
I hope I'm not breaching any trust by posting this part of the letter. They swore me to secrecy about the secret location. Just kidding.
Can anyone who's been through this tell me if the new test is 1st or after other parts of the aud. I know many of you have been through this & done all parts of the aud, though some haven't yet been invited to the show even so.

Re: J! aud letter!
I attended an audition in NYC in 2011.
The new 50-question test is first, before the combination mock game and interview. But as some of us have already said earlier in this thread, everyone who attends these auditions advances to that mock game stage. Nobody is sent home early. This is entirely different from the bus tour audition you attended earlier, where the 10-question test was only a preliminary screen to see who advanced to the single 50-question test that had to be passed next, to advance to the mock game and interview.
It is true that you have to pass the new 50-question test when you go to this audition, but as some of us have already said earlier in this thread, it is the general consensus that the standard of what is "passing" for this test is much easier than for the online test. The reasons for this have also been explained earlier.
Please believe us when we say that you should stop worrying about the written test and that you should concentrate on how you present yourself in the interview/mock game.
I believe you about the test location, and nobody here is going to press you to reveal this information (such info would be of no use to walk-ins, anyway). In NYC, they were using a nondescript meeting room in their chosen hotel, and there were no signs advertising its presence. Random passerbys were not going to stumble on this site by accident. I'm sure they won't at your audition, either.

Re: J! aud letter!
Thanks, Marley.
Flunking that Providence test really did me in as far as J! tests. I didn't even more than cursorily look for their "Brain Bus" after that. And after after that, not even cursorily. It could have been parked at the end of my block, & I might have missed it. So I just took the on-line tests as kind of a goof, & to know what the passers on the board were talking about. I screwed up the 1st one by not reading the instructions carefully enough to know that waiting for the test to time you out, as long as you've filled your rectangle with an answer is OK, & that they take the answer you put in there without you pushing "submit" (or whatever world they use). So I was hitting "submit" (or whatever) after every answer, & boy, was that way too fast. Kind of like real J!, in a way, which is why I probably wouldn't do too well on the show. BAM, without a time limit on the answers (brrr for those who had to endure that) is more my kind of show. Except in my era you had to get through those FFs fast, also not my forte. Hey, going back even further, I did get one call-back on the timed BAM 3-Q tests. Screwed up that, too.
So I'm just going to play this however it plays. Try to have fun. (In so far as I can, under the circumstances.)

Re: J! aud letter!
Yes. This. It is fun. The J! people work to make sure everyone has a good time, so that the audition can be an experience unto itself. The sequence is what Marley said. They give an intro to the whole process and administer the test, and someone takes the tests out of the room to grade them while the mock games go on. For the interview segment, you'll be standing with your group of three playing the mock game. They'll interrupt game play to banter with you about what they see on your application. When your group of three is done, you'll go back to sit in the audience until everyone is done. Then everyone is dismissed at once. And you're in the pool! If you passed the online test pretty much the only way to fail the audition test is to leave 15 or more spaces blank.ghostjmf wrote:So I'm just going to play this however it plays. Try to have fun. The foregoing is based on the very first audition session after the very first online test. They said they were kind of winging it b/c when they administered that first test, they had no idea how many would take or pass it. I don't recall ever seeing anyone else from my group on the show, so I guess I have the distinction of being the very first show contestant from the very first audition from the very first online test, so that was 2006. Holy crud how time flies. Anyway, from what others have reported, the process doesn't seem to have changed much.
If this means that you feel you may be too hasty to give a response, there is a degree of patience involved. As you watch the show, practice developing the rhythm.ghostjmf wrote:was that way too fast. Kind of like real J!, in a way, which is why I probably wouldn't do too well on the show

Yep, looks like there's multiple sessions, I'm scheduled for 11:30AM, and I got the confirmation yesterday. Time to fill out the questionnaire and start the cram process. My more common blind spots are Oscars, capitols, the zodiac and everything modern-day Disney and animated/kidvid entertainment in general. Just got the World Almanac on Kindle, so time to hit info-sponge mode! Best of luck!ghostjmf wrote:The Raven says:

Re: J! aud letter!
I FINALLY pass this damn thing and I don't get an invite.
I guess my goal of making it on J! prior before turning 50 is shot.
