And Jim Kelly has had a relapse of his oral cancer. More surgery is expected.

Re: Doubly sad news in Buffalo
Once I saw this, I deleted my own RIP post.
One thing I mentioned in my post was that Wilson paid $25,000 for the Bills in 1959, and the franchise is worth about $900 million today.

Re: Doubly sad news in Buffalo
On the Bills Message Board, I saw that Jim's surgery has been postponed until Tuesday, apparently because they saw something in his MRI that caused them to change their plans, whatever that means.
Losing Mr. Wilson was something that was not unexpected...he was 95 after all. But Kelly's cancer was described as aggressive and spreading. Losing our owner AND our franchise's most prominent quarterback is unthinkable. I pray that he will overcome this setback.
On top of it all, with Ralph's passing will now come the inevitable speculation on the selling of the team and possible relocation. I surely hope that team doesn't move and break my heart.

Thurman Thomas and Steve Tasker broke down at the press conference at Bills Hqs. He was 95 and it's not like it's a shock, but still...
The Bills will be run by a trust until the team is sold--likely at least two years into the future. They have a lease to stay in Wilson Stadium until 2023, with a $400 penalty for leaving that should prevent anyone from doing so...but...there is a provision in the lease to leave in 2020 (that one time) for only $28 million.
Somebody will buy the team by then--and probably pay lip service to wanting to stay...but is likely to bargain for a new stadium with the looming 2020 deadline. In the meantime, Bills fans need to pray that Los Angeles gets a team and that the Toronto option dies on the vine.
Jim Kelly is very sick...and I am very scared for him and his girls...he is loved in Buffalo like one one else.
