Lyrically Speaking - 3/14/14

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Fri Mar 14, 2014 5:16 am

And so we have come to the final game of the 2014 LSWE. I can not believe how quickly this year's edition came and went! I really wish I had a big finish game like I usually have every season... but alas, you will have to make do with this game made up of songs I pulled from the Music Choice channels on my cable system. I chose the eight channels that play a lot of songs I would normally use in the LSWE:

Solid Gold Oldies (50's and 60's)
70's
80's
90's
Y2K (2000's, of course!)
Party Favorites (Supposed to be upbeat, get up and dance songs... but some of the songs they play on this channel would actually kill a party)
Soft Rock
Classic Rock

I flipped through them until I got four songs from each channel... and the order you see above repeats through all 32 songs in this game (For example: songs #1, 9, 17 and 25 were pulled from Solid Gold Oldies). There should be plenty of opportunity here to make up points to fight for positions or reach any major milestones you were striving for.... well, except for the #1 spot, that one seems to be locked up....

From me and all of my Merry Men (including the ones I hijacked for a game this year), thank you very much for playing the 2014 LSWE! Enjoy the final game!

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. I used to play around with hearts that hastened at my call,
But when I met that little girl I knew that I would fall

2. To my surprise one hundred stories high
People getting loose now, getting down on the roof

3. There's a room where the light won't find you
Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down
When they do, I'll be right behind you

4. Clearly, I remember picking on the boy
Seemed a harmless little fuck
Ooh, but we unleashed a lion
Gnashed his teeth and bit the recess lady`s breast

5. Wish I could shut my playboy mouth
How'd I turn my shirt inside out? (inside outright)
Control your poison babe
Roses have thorns they say
And we're all gettin' hosed tonight

6. I like a good beer buzz, early in the morning
Billy likes to peel the labels from his bottles of Bud

7. My pride, my ego, my needs, and my selfish ways
Caused a good strong woman like you to walk out my life
Now I never, never get to clean up the mess I made, ohh...
And it haunts me every time I close my eyes

8. I can feel the hand of a stranger
And it`s tightening around my throat
Heaven help me, heaven help me
Take this stranger from my boat

9. Something's wrong between us
That your laugher cannot hide
And you're afraid to let your eyes meet mine
And lately when I love you, I know you're not satisfied

10. As time goes on
I realize
Just what you mean
To me
And now
Now that you're near
Promise your love
That I've waited to share
And dreams
Of our moments together

11. Don't you know
So many things they come and go
Like your words that once rang true
Just like the love I thought I found in you

12. Boy, I been watching you like a hawk in the sky at night
Cause you are my prey (my prey)
Boy, I promise you if we keep bumpin heads
I know that one of these days (days)
We gon hook it up while we talk on the phone

13. Desperate for changing
Starving for truth
I`m closer to where I started
Chasing after you

14. So slide over here
And give me a moment
Your moves are so raw
I've got to let you know

15. Well we call and we call
"How come?" we say
Hell, what could make a boy behave this a-way? Yeah
Well he learned all of the lines now

16. No matter how he tried
He could not break free
And the worms ate into his brain

17. All day long they work so hard
Till the sun is goin' down
Working on the highways and byways
And wearing, wearing a frown

18. There's a killer on the road
His brain is squirmin' like a toad
Take a long holiday
Let your children play

19. We've got to hold on to what we've got
'Cause it doesn't make a difference
If we make it or not
We've got each other and that's a lot
For love - we'll give it a shot

20. They print my message in the Saturday Sun
I had to tell them I ain't second to none
And I told about equality and it's true
Either you're wrong or you're right

21. Set me free
Feel the need in me
Set me free
Stay forever and ever
And ever and ever

22. I know it's over, but
I see the signs.
Don't let me waste your precious time.

23. Industry don't pay a price that's fair
All the common people breathing filthy air (Lord have mercy)
Roof caved in on all the simple dreams
And to get ahead your heart starts pumping schemes

24. Poets priests and politicians
Have words to thank for their positions
Words that scream for your submission
And no-one's jamming their transmission

25. Don't be afraid to try the newest sport around
(Bust your buns, bust your buns now)
It's catchin' on in every city and town

26. I spent a lot of money and I spent a lot of time
The trip we made to Hollywood is still etched upon my mind
After all the things we've done and seen you find another man
The things you think are useless I can't understand

27. I've seen you on the beach and I've seen you on TV
Two, of a billion stars it means so much to me
Like a birthday or a pretty view
But then I'm sure that you know it's just for you

28. And I don`t know if I`ve ever been really loved
By a hand that`s touched me
And I feel like something`s gonna give
And I`m a little bit angry, well

29. Didn`t look out below
Watch the time go
Right out the window
Trying to hold on
But didn`t even know
Wasted it all just to
Watch you go

30. You oughta know, tonight is the night to let it go,
Put on a show, I wanna see how you lose control,

31. You're a falling star, you're the get away car.
You're the line in the sand when I go too far.
You're the swimming pool, on an August day.
And You're the perfect thing to see.

32. "You know who I am," he said
The speaker was an angel
He coughed and shook his crumpled wings
Closed his eyes and moved his lips
"It's time we should be going"

littlebeast13 wrote:And so we have come to the final game of the 2014 LSWE.

Spoiler

And it`s tightening around my throat

I've enjoyed all of the pictorial ones and I think I missed the (awesome) Bohemian Rhapsody game last year, but the one that literally had me in awe of your genius was the one with the hidden message using both songs and artists.

Thanks for the games and all the work you put into them! I'm bummed that work assignments took me out towards the end of this run.

So...speaking of Mecca Radio: A few months ago I'm in Mecca just minding my own and I hear Livin' on a Prayer. I start singing along and wondering why I've never heard Bon Jovi in Mecca before and then I realize.... Kroxquo Bonus: Name a song with artist that you would end the 2014 LSWE contest with.

Talk Dirty - Jason Derulo

My current favourite song. It's got this super cool beat that's kind of Bollywood.

Mecca Bonus: Two of the songs above have been on the Mecca CD. Which numbers? (3 possible points)

Livin' on a Prayer (hey, maybe it was playing at the same time my sister was calling me....ha!) and Bruno

5 Point Bonus: Over the entire seven year history of the LSWE, what game was your favorite?

It's a tie between all the years that I won....ha! Seriously, I think last year might have been my favourite. I couldn't wait to get my answers posted so I could look and see what Phyllis and Frank were up to that day....

Also, thank you as always for taking the time and the energy. I guess the best compliment I could give is that, even though I officially retired at the end of last season, I just couldn't help myself on some of the games and had to pull a Jordan and repeatedly come back for "just one more". I really wanted to get at least one attendance bonus and this was going to be the week. Then there was yet another Mom emergency and I missed Thursday and almost missed this one! Not my best work and no time for Fanny Fun Facts because I had to hurry to get my answers done. I really need some sack time, I have to take my mom to the surgeon tomorrow/today. Who has more fun than me????

25. Don't be afraid to try the newest sport around
(Bust your buns, bust your buns now)
It's catchin' on in every city and town
Sidewalk Surfin - Jan & Dean (What in the name of Kopy Kat was going on between Jan & Dean and the Beach Boys back in the day anyway? When I came across this song, I swore it was Catch a Wave... which several people actually guessed!)

26. I spent a lot of money and I spent a lot of time
The trip we made to Hollywood is still etched upon my mind
After all the things we've done and seen you find another man
The things you think are useless I can't understand
Reeling in the Years - Steely Dan

27. I've seen you on the beach and I've seen you on TV
Two, of a billion stars it means so much to me
Like a birthday or a pretty view
But then I'm sure that you know it's just for you
Rio - Duran Duran

28. And I don`t know if I`ve ever been really loved
By a hand that`s touched me
And I feel like something`s gonna give
And I`m a little bit angry, well
Push - Matchbox 20

29. Didn`t look out below
Watch the time go
Right out the window
Trying to hold on
But didn`t even know
Wasted it all just to
Watch you go
In the End - Linkin Park

30. You oughta know, tonight is the night to let it go,
Put on a show, I wanna see how you lose control,
Down - Jay Sean & Lil Wayne

31. You're a falling star, you're the get away car.
You're the line in the sand when I go too far.
You're the swimming pool, on an August day.
And You're the perfect thing to see.
Everything - Michael Buble

32. "You know who I am," he said
The speaker was an angel
He coughed and shook his crumpled wings
Closed his eyes and moved his lips
"It's time we should be going"
Look Back in Anger - David Bowie (Music Choice played it, so I put it in the game... and never guessed it would stump both Hottie and Fanny!)

Mecca Bonus: Two of the songs above have been on the Mecca CD. Which numbers? (3 possible points)

#6 - All I Wanna Do (Summer 2013 CD)
#7 - When I Was Your Man (Fall 2013 CD)

JJC Points:

Vandal gets 2 JJC points for Writers on the Storm and the wonderful Krox...

frank gets a supermax for making the SRA an awfully hard decision for me this year...

Krox gets 2 JJC points for Riders of the Storm on Party Favorites and for thinking I'd forget to include ONe Night in Bangkok (It was in the parody game a few weeks ago...)

TBone gets a JJC point for being in a biker bar full of Rocky Burdette fans...

Fanny gets 2 JJC points for confusing a ringtone with the Mecca CD (No Bon Jovi on any of the four CD's yet... though one of his songs used to be on the old Mecca Radio a lot... and I can't come up with what it was right now, but it was one of his post-80's songs that [mostly] sound like crap...)

Jessie gets a supermax for anther crazy game...

And of course, as per LSWE tradition, everyone who thanked me in some way for running the game got an additional 3 points!
