Specialist - have you been experiencing any vomiting or bleeding or strange body pains?
Big J -No
Sp - do you have any cats?
Big J - 2
Sp. Are they declawed?
Big J - no
Sp - I would say 95% you have "cat scratch fever" I'll see you is about 6 weeks for a followup to see if the node has gone down.

This is almost comical. And a great relief. To you guys, to all of us. But, seriously, they needed to call in the specialist to give Big J this news?
At least they've ruled out the unthinkable stuff. So now we who have cats can all think on cat scratch fever. I hope it doesn't turn Big J into Ted Nugent (this is a very lame reference to a 60s rocker turned very-right-wing-whacko whose hit record, which I've actually never heard to my knowledge, is, uh...).

Not a fan of Nugent but the song has some great guitar licks.

Good news!
Even though you make it sound like the cats did something wrong. It's not like they were holding you and Big J hostage.

The Dr at the clinic was not sure about the node, so marked urgent on the file. The specialist who does a lot of nodes work, looked at the ultrasound, and was able to make a more specific diagnosis.
Now, if there are any changes over the next 6 weeks, then he'll do a more indepth checking. He did tell Big J that he sees a lot of these.

Nothing Could Be Finer Than A Crisis That is Minor in the Morning
Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

He didn't prescribe an antibiotic? The little basdids have a name: Bartonella.

OK, from my vast fund of stored brain knowledge, I am gleaning the full name of Bartonella Hennsallae, spelling of the 2nd word in question. I will now go look it up (to see if I've even got the right word, for one).
Something all cat associators-with should familarize themselves about, anyway.

It's "henselae". Henselae eggs.

At least BJ didn't question my having that vast fund of stored brain knowledge. Stored brain spelling, not always so much.

Certainly better that he has a bubo from Cat Scratch Fever than some of the other potential causes!
