RIP Frank Jobe

Orthopedic surgeon and long-time physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers and other professional athletes in the Los Angeles area who is best known for pioneering Tommy John surgery. According to his obituary, approximately 1/3 of the pitchers in the major leagues today have had Tommy John surgery at some time in their careers.

Age 88.

One of Tommy Lasorda's best lines came when he was hit with a rash of injuries and was asked how the team was holding up and he replied that, "right now, I have the patients of Jobe."
