Lyrically Speaking - 2/25/14

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Tue Feb 25, 2014 7:25 am

It's time for another exciting edition of Tuesday Wordplay, and hopefully one some of you will know a few songs on! If not, oh well...

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. L.A. proved too much for the man,
So he's leavin' the life he's come to know,
He said he's goin' back to find
Ooh, what's left of his world

2. I’m gonna wait till the stars come out
See them twinkle in your eyes
I'm gonna wait 'till _____
That's when my love begins to shine

3. Ain't got no regrets
And I ain't losin' track
Of which way I'm going
Ain't gonna double back

4. Ya get up in the mornin`
You hear the ding-dong ring
Now you look upon the table
You see the same darn thing

5. Got gleaming chrome reflecting feel
Loaded, loaded
Ready to take on every deal
Loaded, loaded

6. He don't give you a hoot of warning
Wrapped up in a black cat cloak
He don't go in the light of the morning
He split the time the cockrel crows

7. You don't have to answer
There's no need to speak
I'll be your belly dancer, prancer
And you can be my sheik

8. I stop to see a weepin' willow
Cryin' on his pillow
Maybe he's cryin' for me
And as the skies turn gloomy
Night winds whisper to me
I'm lonesome as I can be

9. And I don't own the clothes I'm wearing,
And the road goes on forever,
And I've got one more silver dollar

10. But a little gold ring you wear on your hand makes me understand
There's another before me, you'll never be mine
I'm wasting my time

11. Now sweet Georgia Brown and sweet Lorraine
They got caught on Caledonia`s land
Sioux City Sue then told it all
Those girls got drunk and they had a ball

12. We're gonna cause talk and suspiction
We're gonna give an exhibition
We're gonna find out what it is all about

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that contains the magic word of the day.

5 Point Bonus: When I was a kid, my family had a dog who shared a name with the word of the day that was what breed?

It's time for another exciting edition of Tuesday Wordplay, and hopefully one some of you will know a few songs on! If not, oh well...

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. L.A. proved too much for the man,
So he's leavin' the life he's come to know,
He said he's goin' back to find
Ooh, what's left of his world

MIDNIGHT Train To Georgia-Gladys Knight & The Pips

2. I’m gonna wait till the stars come out
See them twinkle in your eyes
I'm gonna wait 'till _____
That's when my love begins to shine

In The MIDNIGHT Hour-Wilson Pickett, The Young Rascals, etc. There was also a sped up cover of it by a group called Michael & The Messengers, complete with WONDERFULLY cheesy Farfisa organ, that was a hit in my local area. My 45 of it was unfortunately lost in the same damn flood that took so much of my record and comic collections. However, there is a YouTube post of the song if anyone is inclined to check it out.Yeah, it's kinda crappy, but in a cool "kids playing in a garage" kinda way.

3. Ain't got no regrets
And I ain't losin' track
Of which way I'm going
Ain't gonna double back

MIDNIGHT Blue-Lou Gramm

4. Ya get up in the mornin`
You hear the ding-dong ring
Now you look upon the table
You see the same darn thing

MIDNIGHT Special-An old country tune, but I know it by Johnny Rivers or CCR

5. Got gleaming chrome reflecting feel
Loaded, loaded
Ready to take on every deal
Loaded, loaded

Living After MIDNIGHT-Judas Priest

6. He don't give you a hoot of warning
Wrapped up in a black cat cloak
He don't go in the light of the morning
He split the time the cockrel crows

MIDNIGHT Rambler-Rolling Stones

7. You don't have to answer
There's no need to speak
I'll be your belly dancer, prancer
And you can be my sheik

MIDNIGHT At The Oasis-Maria Muldaur

8. I stop to see a weepin' willow
Cryin' on his pillow
Maybe he's cryin' for me
And as the skies turn gloomy
Night winds whisper to me
I'm lonesome as I can be

Walking After MIDNIGHT-Patsy Cline

9. And I don't own the clothes I'm wearing,
And the road goes on forever,
And I've got one more silver dollar

MIDNIGHT Rider-Allman Bros Band originally, later a hit for Gregg Allman solo

10. But a little gold ring you wear on your hand makes me understand
There's another before me, you'll never be mine
I'm wasting my time

MIDNIGHT Confessions-Grass Roots

11. Now sweet Georgia Brown and sweet Lorraine
They got caught on Caledonia`s land
Sioux City Sue then told it all
Those girls got drunk and they had a ball

Rockin' At MIDNIGHT-Honeydrippers

12. We're gonna cause talk and suspiction
We're gonna give an exhibition
We're gonna find out what it is all about

After MIDNIGHT-would I get JJC pts. for answering JJ Cale even though everyone knows the Eric Clapton version??

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that contains the magic word of the day.

MIDNIGHT Rendezvous-The Babys

5 Point Bonus: When I was a kid, my family had a dog who shared a name with the word of the day that was what breed?

Black Labrador Retriever
"#$%&@*&"-Donald F. Duck
