Observations February 19, 2014 - Arch

#1 Post by SportsFan68 » Wed Feb 19, 2014 1:22 pm

I usually ignore sarcasm in print and in person unless it's said in an obviously joking way (as Skoop pointed out long ago, very hard to tell in print), and when one of my friends admires some polemic or other because the point was made with sarcasm or irony or some other sharp rhetorical device, I long to say, "That was a little too arch for me," but no one I know uses arch in that way anymore.
-- In Iroquois society, leaders are encouraged to remember seven generations in the past and consider seven generations in the future when making decisions that affect the people.
-- America would be a better place if leaders would do more long-term thinking. -- Wilma Mankiller
