Re: Game #145: It’s the Right Time For a Movie Game

#126 Post by Pastor Fireball » Sun Feb 16, 2014 3:03 pm

I can now put us one away:

80. THE LAST PICTURE SHOW (Ben Johnson) + 50. HIGH NOON (Gary Cooper) = 14. JOHNNY GUITAR (Ben Cooper)

We've used all of the films that need to be used 3 times, so the final match will have to be made only with films that have been used just once.

Game #145: It’s the Right Time For a Movie Game

Identify the 125 movies in the clues below. (Every other clue is a quotation.) Then, match them into 56 triples and 2 quadruples according to a Tangredi, or principle you must discover for yourself. There will be 37 movies used twice and seven used three times. No movie will be used in exactly the same way more than once.

So, if Frank accepts a Jr., that gives

37. Al Pacino (Scent) + 79. Morgan Freeman (Million Dollar Baby) = 58. Al Freeman Jr. (Malcolm X)
I know this isn't part of the game, but you could change this triple to a quad:

37. Al Pacino (Scent) + 79. Morgan Freeman (Million Dollar Baby) + 69. Louis Gossett Jr. (An Officer and a Gentleman) = 58. Al Freeman Jr. (Malcolm X)

Well, McDaniel seemed like the most generic Oscar-winning surname remaining, so I went digging and found

87. AFFLICTION (James Coburn) + 125. GONE WITH THE WIND (Hattie McDaniel) = 58. MALCOLM X (James McDaniel)

Well, unless Frank says otherwise, I would call that a completed game. Nice find, plasticene. Good job to all... especially to Frank.

If anybody has another game ready to go between now and mid-April, this would be the perfect time to post it. I mentioned at the end of my last game that I had a very special contest prepared for the Bored starting in April... and can you believe that it's almost April?

I'm not quite sure how to describe this contest yet, but let's just say we'll answer the question, "What would happen if we put a bunch of Tangredi games and a bunch of QoD games together in the same room? Absolute pandemonium or the greatest trivia orgy in the history of ever?"
