Re: RIP Jim Fregosi
I read yesterday about his stroke, but this is still a surprise.
He was a hero of mine. Everyone wanted to wear number 11 in Little League.
Before games, he'd often take a bag of balls & hit 'em to kids in the stands, usually to the upper deck, where the cheapest seats are.
RIP, Jim.

Re: RIP Jim Fregosi
Tough couple of months for the 1993 Phillies.
Schilling, diagnosed with cancer. Daulton, undergoing chemo and radiation for his brain tumor.
He would come to alumni events at CBP and always got a really nice reception.
Listened to Mitch Williams on MLB Network this morning -- a lovely tribute.

Re: RIP Jim Fregosi
I was reading tributes about him and learned that he hit the first ever inside-the-park home run at Dodger Stadium, which the Angels shared with the Dodgers at the time.
This page has a pretty detailed career summary. I never realized how highly regarded he was as a player, outside of Orange County.
