Clay Aiken is running for Congress

#1 Post by Bob78164 » Wed Feb 12, 2014 9:56 am

The best political introduction ad I've ever seen was Dianne Feinstein's "Forged from Adversity" ad, which introduced her to California in preparation for her run for governor. At least, that was the best I'd ever seen until now . . . .

I don't know North Carolina at all. Is he running in a competitive district? --Bob

Wow.

That was amazingly good.

I am one of the people who he speaks of who know nothing about him other than Idol so that surprised me.

He'd be running against Renee Ellmers if they win their primaries. The 2nd district was gerrymandered in 2010 to go red.

We don't need any more celebrities in Congress. We need real people.

But any time real people are brave enough to run, they are branded as kooks or worse by their more established opponents. That's the vicious cycle we have in politics. The kooks are the ones that are in office. They ALL need to be replaced by real citizens that have the well being of the country as their priority instead of the good of their respective political parties and the preservation and compilation of more and more centralized power and authority. Sorry, I don't think Clay Aiken fits the bill.

And before the BJs come in and do it to me, it happens in BOTH parties.

He comes across as startlingly real to me in this video, and far more approachable than most "politicians," of which he says he doesn't want to be one.

Yeah, Ronald Reagan was terrible.

Clay Aiken was a "real person" before becoming a celebrity. He was a teacher of autistic kids.

Too bad Larry Craig retired a few years ago. He could have used a stallmate.

He may be a very good person and singer, and he may have had a very well produced video with a compelling story. But, again, he is pretty much talking about using the government to fix problems, instead of getting the government out of the way. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but I can't help thinking that he's been chosen by anonymous backers who will run him because he has a name and an image.

I didn't see him on American Idol, but he did really well as a project manager and giving presentations when he was on Celebrity Apprentice. And he really should have won, but I think Arsenio Hall had a Joan Rivers clause in his contract....

Didn't watch it. That one jumped the shark along time ago. Around the time of DWT'Stars'
