RIP - My mom

#1 Post by TheSearchIsOn » Mon Feb 10, 2014 9:35 pm

Lost her battle with kidney cancer last night at the age of 72. Did not even know she had cancer before December, though the first definite sign surfaced in October. By that time it was already stage 4. No history of cancer in the family so it caught everyone off guard. I am still in shock. Her mom passed away just four years ago at age 95.

Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

So sorry for your loss. My mother died at 93 and then my sister died two years later at 66. Not something you expect at all.
My condolences to your family.

My heart goes out to you.

One thing I'll regret 'til the end of my days is that when a friend said to me a few years ago "its stage 4" I just kept babbling whatever I was babbling at them. I guess I thought "well, their cancer isn't so bad until its stage 6" or something. I don't know if various cancers have higher stages, but theirs didn't. They displayed ultimate grace by not swatting me, but they didn't set me right about it either. They're not here anymore, & I miss them.
