She's the Representative from Washington state who will be giving the response to the State of the Union Address.
I just looking into her background and found she's quite liberal. In fact the only thing I can disagree with her on is her opposition to Obamacare. That means most of her colleagues in Congress don't agree with her.

Now I've looked her up too. I found out she opposed legalizing pot in Washington.
I also learned that Washington has open primaries. That might make Rep. McMorris Rodgers more willing to take moderate positions without fearing a backlash from the right wing.
She's a big improvement over Michele Bachmann.

I do remember how I voted on recreational marijuana -- no. Along with many others, I was worried about the additional access, mostly for teens. This has come to pass, along with another dreadful unforeseen consequence -- apparently the fragrance is extremely attractive to canines, and the vet that MatiasMom works for has seen three much-loved pets in their ER because the drug itself is toxic to them. All three of those survived, but there have been many that didn't.
