http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/she ... ts-in-bio/“We’re not surprised by Greg Abbott’s campaign attacks on the personal story of my life as a single mother who worked hard to get ahead. But they won’t work, because my story is the story of millions of Texas women who know the strength it takes when you’re young, alone and a mother. I’ve always been open about my life not because my story is unique, but because it isn’t.
The truth is that at age 19, I was a teenage mother living alone with my daughter in a trailer and struggling to keep us afloat on my way to a divorce. And I knew then that I was going to have to work my way up and out of that life if I was going to give my daughter a better life and a better future and that’s what I’ve done. I am proud of where I came from and I am proud of what I’ve been able to achieve through hard work and perseverance. And I guarantee you that anyone who tries to say otherwise hasn’t walked a day in my shoes.”

Those Callous Republicans
Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

LOL - she didn't lie. She "focused on general themes." Alrighty-then.

Mr. Juch, you must not be from these parts! I suspect that you hail from one of those Liberal Commie States like California, Oregon or um, um, oops!!! Well anyway, Ms. Davis should leave running the great state of Texas to us good, old boys! After all, a woman's place is in the home, NOT the state house.Bob Juch wrote:She should be.BackInTex wrote:Wow. She could be President!

I can't argue that she'd be an improvement. But if she meets your standard, well, I guess I can understand that as well.Bob Juch wrote:She should be.BackInTex wrote:Wow. She could be President!

In this case "haven't walked a day in my shoes" was a poor choice of words because of who her opponent will be. But I will still vote for her because their positions on the issues are more important than this other stuff.
