Lyrically Speaking - 1/10/14

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Fri Jan 10, 2014 3:52 am

For my first Free For All Friday of the 2014 LSWE, I'd like to present a game unwittingly put together by one of my blog followers, NotAPunkRocker. She has a rather eclectic music library with an immense variety of songs, and occasionally she will showcase this with a post mentioning the most recent songs to come up on her iPod shuffle. Here is a list of 14 songs from a list she posted sometime last Fall, and which I thought would make an excellent filler in a year when good Free For All Friday ideas were just not coming to me. These songs span many decades and genres, and range from popular to obscure. Well, kinda like a lot of my regular LSWE games!

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist....

1. They're forming in straight line
They're going through a tight wind
The kids are losing their minds

2. Can't stop I need some help.
Fuck you, I'm by myself
Is it a truth or lie?
It's what you can't deny.

3. You try comin' on when you need some...
But then you don't 'cos you already did
Yeah, you jangle your jewels while your shakin' ya...
And drive the pretty boys outta their heads

4. I sell the things you need to be
I'm the smiling face on your T.V.

5. Now you're messing with a
A son of a bitch
Now you're messing with a son of a bitch

6. Lonely is only a place
You don't know what it's like
You can't fight it
It's a hole in my heart, in my heart

7. If time itself was his demeanor
Thered be no sunlight or a glimmer
Of sunlight landin on the street
Sunsuit girls must be discreet

8. Now put your flags in the air and march them up and down
you can live it up live it up all over the town

9. Miss the beat, you lose the rhythm
And nothing falls into place, no
Only missed by a fraction
Slipped a little off your pace, oh

10. Do you remember when we met
That's the day I knew you were my pet

11. Oh, I had a dream
for a moment I believed it was true
oh, I'd have given anything
just to be there with you
are you hiding
somewhere behind those eyes?

12. And now the dreams are near and the conscience clearing
Crazy about your love
Another change of direction and the motivation
King and queen of the nighttime world

13. Sundown to sunrise
Dance all night
We gonna dance all night
Dance all night to this DJ
Now sugar dance all night to this DJ

14. big shake on the box car moving
big shake to the land that's falling down
is a wind makes a palm start blowing
a big, big stone fall and break my crown

10. Sea of Love

Of course, this brings to mind the great movie with Al Pacino and Ellen Barkin. More personally, my wife was a reading tutor, and she used a board game called Sea of Vowels. So I wrote these lyrics for her:

Come with me to the sea, to the sea of vowels.
Do you remember when we met?
O, that's the day I knew U were A mouse (E-E-E).
I wanna tell you just how much I love you.

She hated it and wouldn't let me sing it around the kids.
