Done with bridge for 2013

#1 Post by Bob78164 » Tue Dec 31, 2013 2:05 am

I won't be playing today, so I'm done with bridge for 2013. I finished the year with 457.78 masterpoints, which I hope will be enough to put me on the Barry Crane Top 500. I guess I'll find out in a week or so. --Bob

Congrats, that is a nice #. As of 12/6 that total would put you in the top 400 so I would think you will stay in the top 500.

Me, not so much. Additional duties at work really put a cramp in me being able to play more--of course I have to travel to play more. I do plan on a few days in Dallas in March and the Fargo regional in June. A couple of local sectionals and that will be about it for 2014.

Las Vegas is late January, but I won't be there because I'm flying east that weekend for a family bar mitzvah. Woodland Hills is in February. --Bob

I know nothing of the game as you play it or anything about the rankings. But it does appear you have achieved something noteworthy and are on the cusp of something better.

Congrats for a successful year and good luck on earning that ranking.

in my early days the Mckenney list was 300 in a year unfortunately for me I did get 300 in a 12 month period but it was from May to May

Achievement in bridge is largely measured (for better or worse) by number of master points won. The ACBL (American Contract Bridge League) has more than 168,000 members. I'm hoping to end 2013 among the top 500 in master points won for the year.

Thanks for your good wishes. --Bob

Nope, our summers are short enough, I don't need to make them shorter by being gone. :P

Looks like I spoke too soon. ACBL informs me that the points I won in our District semifinals of North American Open Pairs will be credited in 2014, not 2013, so my actual total will only be 452.62. --Bob
