Wasn't the original of that scene from Goldfinger? --Boblittlebeast13 wrote:#9. "Double-O Mangy"

Uh oh! It looks like the world famous spy with a License to Pester has fallen into the clutches of the evil Dr. No! Ick! Deep within her Rocky Mountain hideout, ES finds himself about to be shaken and stirred as he is restrained on a table with a nasty looking laser slowly creeping up towards the family nuts. Will Double-O Mangy escape from the clutches of Dr. No! Ick! and live to work another day for Her Majesty's Squirrel Service, or is he about to become half the squirrel he used to be? He will probably be luckier than the squirrels who were detained trying to go into Iran back in 2007 that inspired this countdown worthy avatar... a situation that was just begging for a reference to the ES trying to get into Colorado gag Sprotsie Baby just loves to play on the poor rodent.

Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

#8. "Dirty Mouth?"
Debuted: 10/30/13

This avatar will teach me to stay out of the political threads when I'm trying to argue unpolitical points and expecting unpolitical responses. I said some rather nasty words in response to my foolishness, and DK jokingly called me a rabble rouser. Those who cuss are the happiest people in the world, DK's sister would say... though perhaps those dirty mouths out there could still use a little Orbit gum to wash out the F bombs. My tribute to that ad campaign with DK as the friendly Orbit lady holding a bar of soap was a huge hit despite only lasting one day as my avatar. How can you not like ES being restrained by the tail, about to enjoy a nice Ivory sandwich courtesy of DevilKitty?

#7. "I Heart Pigladillos"
Debuted: 2/22/13

While 2013 was more about turning some of my second tier characters into stars via my blog, there was one new critter who burst onto the scene by complete accident in a fashion that is so typical of my characters. A chat conversation mash up of squirrels (of course) and Jessie's love of armadillos between the two of us turned inspirational when Fanny burst out with "Armadillos! Nature's acrobats!" The idea of an armadillo hanging from a tree and greeting Jessie popped right in my mind, and a clueless Saucy provided the final element for this new creature when she asked why I had a Piglet/possum hybrid in my new avatar. This avatar was the birth of the Pigladillo, 2013's ES Rookie of the Year... and such a sweet and charming avatar it is!

#6. "The Gang's All Here"
Debuted: 7/14/13

It's hard to believe that earlier this year I drew my 500th ES avatar for this Bored, and I went against my normal routine of letting the chips fall where they may and made it a special tribute. I crammed as many of my frequent avatar characters in this one as I could for a group portrait... a painstaking effort that alone could have guaranteed this one the top spot in the countdown were I not reluctant to give the ultimate honor to specially done avatars such as this. Fanny, probably the ultimate Bored authority on my characters outside of myself, did a nice job of identifying everyone who appears in this avatar:
Front: Lizbit, BeBe,Jessie, PIgladillo, Ody, Biz
First Row: Sliver, Sandy, Angel, ES, MBRS, Blaze, Sulphur, Clem
Second Row: Kiki, Beebs, Sprots, Fanny, Hooly, Odyssey
Third Row: DK, Mini, Hottie, Skanki
Fourth Row: Rainbow Donkey, Buster, Erin, Lil, Saucy
Heaven: Spilly, Annie
This one deserved a high spot in the countdown, no doubt about it... but it also allows for five of my more naturally wonderful avatars to get the distinction of being in the Top 5.

#5. "Rainbow Donkey Comes To Life"
Debuted: 8/31/13

If there is one of my characters who crossed over extremely well from the Bored to my new group of fans on my blog, it is Rainbow Donkey. The loveable, star-crossed unicorn was a huge hit, and one of my friends over there accepted my challenge to make a crocheted version of him... which I received as a gift back in August. This avatar memorialized the occasion, inspired by a comic I had drawn a couple weeks earlier, it shows Erin lovingly cuddling with a Rainbow Donkey doll... looking up with big cute eyes. Never underestimate the bond between a girl and her unicorn...

I thought this was a contender for #1.
The Rainbow Donkey arriving at your house had to be a highlight of the year, it is so awesome!
And that picture captures so much of the awesomeness.

#4. "Punk Rock Squirrel"
Debuted: 7/4/13

A strange story about a milkman who auditioned for WWTBAM and Confessor's comment about how old one must be to have been a milkman at one time led to one of my favorite and certainly most detailed MBRS solo avatars ever. Only the most well rounded of children from the 80's likely remember the great alternative hit "Punk Rock Girl" by the band called The Dead Milkmen, but everyone can appreciate MBRS's tribute to the age of punk... complete with piercings, mohawk, combat boots, tank top, ripped tights, fingerless gloves, name spray painted on the background, and of course that attitude MBRS already flaunts so well. Thanks to MBRS, the punk rock genre finally put something high on the charts...

#3. "Wacky Cards"
Debuted: 8/22/13

I always relish the chance to give an old character from one of my early portraits a more modern makeover, and such an opportunity occurred this past August when ladysoleil emerged from a five year Bored hiatus to inform us that she had auditioned for WWTBAM again, and even managed to make it to the elusive video interview. She pulled out all the stops in a last ditch effort to get on the show, saying she "played all of her wacky cards" for the crew. That gave me an idea for revamping ladysoleil's goth kitty character I had made for her five years ago, and having the mysterious feline play with her ES character tarot cards by candlelight. This avatar became one of my instant favorites, and obviously ladysoleil liked it as well, as it quickly became her avatar. The call to tape would soon come for her, and that should have come as no surprise. Never underestimate the good luck those who draw the Rainbow Donkey card will receive...

#2. "Social Media Hell"
Debuted: 4/26/13

The only reason this avatar is not titled "Facebook Is Evil" is because I had a different avatar by that name last year. It was inspired by mini's assimilation to the Facebook culture, and even worse the mind-sucking games found there, that shortly after this avatar's original posting would make her a non-entity on the Bored she inhabited for 13 years. Probably my best use of shadow and shading in an avatar, it is a thoroughly wicked looking avatar that perfectly captures my feelings towards the social media site that has been strangling the life out of this Bored for several years now. The laughing devil in the shadows only has a few identifying features, but they are those of my character Hooly... who became the face of the cellphone and Facebook culture for me long before it became something that "everyone" was doing. As much as I absolutely love the artistic greatness of this avatar, it also makes quite sad when I see it. Why, Facebook? Why?
