So, how's your weather?

#1 Post by Kazoo65 » Sat Dec 21, 2013 6:24 pm

There's a big storm that is making it's way across the country causing lots of travel problems just in time for the Christmas rush. We're having rain right now, but the temps are supposed to drop and we're going to get an ice storm. There were lots of people at the grocery store today stocking up on extra food. After the ice storm, we're going to be having snow. They are talking about "lake effect" which potentially means a lot of snow. We are definitely getting a White Christmas this year.

60s and sunny here in California, today and for the full 10-day forecast. Thanks for asking! 8)

They should be getting rain here, but it's been unusually dry, which may cause a lot of problems next year. But for someone visiting for the holidays, I can't complain.

Hit 70 degrees here today in TN but overcast. Still - a nice enough day that I spent the afternoon kayaking. Still 68 at 8:00 pm.

Won't last but fine while it is here.

73° high here today, supposed to be 78° tomorrow. Both are new records.

70-something here today (central VA), so I took a break from Christmas baking to get the leaves out of the yard.

Tomorrow, they're talking 80-plus.

Go figure.

It's currently 32 degrees with light rain falling. Our high today was 34 after an overnight low of 22. There's a coating of ice on everything, with scattered poer outages. We're supposed to fall to 16 tonight. Woohoo . . .

I'm in a winter war zone, with the sound of cracking trees that resembles gunfire. My back yard is again full of downed ice-coated branches from across the back fence, and the front yard, where the trees are taller, is downright dangerous. My next-door neighbor and I both moved our cars from our shared parking area to the street after our vehicles were pelted with downed branches and we spotted much larger broken branches that appeared to be clinging primarily by bark. I expect the heavier ones to come down when the wind picks up tomorrow or Monday.

The dogs (even otherwise-fearless Lizbit) are afraid to go outside because of the strange noises from above and the unusual barriers on the lawn. I am curious to find out how much longer they can hold out.

I accept full blame, as I forgot to fire up the White Hot Glare in time to avoid the entire ice storm. The official measurement is 1/2 to 1 inch of ice for my city. The parts of town without buried utilities have lost power. We may get above freezing on Tuesday. I am making up new swear words on an hourly basis. None of the new words reflect the spirit of Christmas.

Enjoy it while you can! 60s tomorrow then 50s.

We had a massive windstorm roll through about 4 am this morning - sounded like a freight train roaring through. Just before it hit, temperatures jumped to almost 80. Then, massive amounts of rain.

With morning, it's still in the 60's, but our 15' wide backyard creek is a larger 40' wide river right now.

We had some ice last night-downtown Kalamzoo is without power and there are some places that will be in the dark on Christmas-YUCK.

There's a big blue blob of snow across the lake on the radar, and it's heading toward us. We're under (another) winter weather advisory. I think we've been under them almost the entire month of December.

I'd like some 70-80 degree weather, please!!!

Two days ago I did my walking in shorts and no shirt. Tonight it is going to be 26 degrees. Lots of variety down here in the Deep South.

It's the same here in the not-so-Deep South.

Over the weekend the temperatures were in the 60s. Today the expected high is 21 degrees. There was light snow falling when I came in to work, but it wasn't very much.

Working on Christmas Eve?

I suppose you'll want the whole day off, tomorrow, but come in all the earlier, the next morning!
