The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

The NRA has milked the "Obama's going to take your guns away so buy a bunch of them now" panic for all it's worth. Gun ownership has been going down so they have to resort to scare tactics to try to boost sales.

Our local tea party is a mix of idiots, crazies and wannabes. Sort of like your cohorts. I also have never owned a gun nor belonged to the NRA. Christie, some victim's families were interviewed last night. One father is a hunter. They're working on programs to maybe prevent atrocities in the future including mental health, gun safty, etc. I thought ne's comment was, indeed, irrelevant. Even Bobj didn't comment. Sorry I reacted but these events aren't owned bya select few groups.

We lost a beautiful young woman from Stratford, Victoria Soto, and today we are mourning the loss of both the young children and the teachers one year ago.
