Does Anyone Record Episodes/background on Tues's contestant

#1 Post by jurisdoctor07 » Mon Dec 09, 2013 10:51 pm

Hello - long time, no talk. I air April 21st, by the way.

I was wondering if someone could record tomorrow (Tuesday's) episode for me and send it to me as a digital file? I hate to ask but I really need it...here's why...

Random story (background on tomorrow's contestant, Kay). When I taped my episode in September, Kay was my on-air companion. Well, she took the audition test in the audience before I taped, and when I taped, she was very enthusiastic and had some screen time. Well, after I taped, they approached her and asked her if she would like to do a video interview, because we were leaving before they announced who passed (which she did). She did the video interview, and then on our taxi ride home, they called her and invited her to come in the next day to tape an episode. So, the next day, we're back in the studio, this time at her taping - although they wouldn't let me be her on-air companion because they didn't know my air date yet.

She airs tomorrow (Tuesday) - cheer her on! And hopefully someone can provide me a digital file, because the city I live in (Des Moines) doesn't air WWTBAM.

Hey, JD!

I could do it. Due to the resulting file size, I will probably need to place it into Dropbox and then send you a link to retrieve it.

Do you want the entire episode, or just the part with Kay (if different)?

I use a device called a Hauppauge to copy from my DVR to my PC. The settings I usually use are:
Encoding bit rate: 9.0 Mb (can set from 1 to 14 Mb - IIRC, the instructions recommended at least 9 for TV)
Format: MP4 (other choices are TS or M2TS)
I'm no video expert, so I don't know much about these settings except that they work for me and that I can adjust them as indicated. Will this do for you?
A child of five would understand this. Send someone to fetch a child of five.

I use a free program to convert video formats which comes in handy when I transfer shows from my TiVo to the desktop I use for video editing. I can't recall its name but I'll check when I get home.

What a great audition story!

Yes, Estonut and Bob Juch...that would be so wonderful if you could! I'm heartsick that I can't watch her episode...and, I guess....my episode, either,

I normally record and transcribe on Tuesdays. However there is a weather news pre-emption today so I won't be able to record or transcribe this one. Retroactive luck to your friend!

Esto and Juch
If you post a link I could do the usual transcribing as BBTranscriptTeam.

I was about to watch Kay, but 6ABC has been broadcasting a special report since 4 a.m. to tell us it will snow/is snowing/snowed. I could have figured that out by stepping outside or looking out the window. :x Now I'll have to wait for the transcript.

I guess it depends on your point of view.

And on whether one is bitter. :|

I'm going to just post a link to the video translation software since Esto beat me to offering to supply the actual video. I'm pretty sure the show won't be preempted either in The OC or here due to weather coverage.

Having read the transcript, I can see why the producers loved Kay. I wish the show hadn't been preempted by a stupid snow report. For me, playing just two days after the Call (in 2004) or six days (this season) was hard enough. I'm amazed at how she handled auditioning and then playing the very next day.
