I didn't think it was "baseball gloves" because we had a trivia question a couple weeks back asking which American League team Nintendo is a majority owner of-it's the Seattle Mariners if you don't know. I figured since they own the team, they might own a factory that supplies them with the gloves. I use JTQ here.

It's the "while" that makes the present perfect in the main clause. It suggests that all the action of the subordinate clause was over in the past and, therefore, there is no connection to the present. They could have fixed it by saying "although" instead.

That's the way I read it. Using "although" instead, however, would have removed any ambiguity.
