This has been one of the better races in recent years, with very intense tasks, and some very interesting racer dynamics.

At this stage, I am hoping for a Jason/Amy win, or a Travis and Nicole, although I once again have to tell them, "Nicole, the Lord really has better things to do that help you with a task in the race"... I loathe the "Afghanimals", and and PinkyMarie, although Tim is okay, and don't want to see 3 out of those 4 rewarded with any money.

Next week looks epic, with the Cobra dining

I agree with you regarding who I hope wins and who I'd like to see eliminated and the sooner the better.

That said, I must say that Leo was right in having Jamal destroy his musical instrument rather than let others see it - and Nicole was wrong in going back into the judging area and trying to get a glimpse of Jamal's successful creation. Nicole and Travis may never lie to another team, but Nicole's antics were borderline ethical, IMO. By the same token it was very nice of Amy to stay and help Nicole, leaving only when the last team showed up in order to be sure they wouldn't be eliminated.

I keep watching in the hope that Marie will die violently, but I guess they wouldn't show that, would they?

I don't watch Survivor, but it seems as though lying and double-crossing are accepted as necessary aspects of the game, and that is probably part of the show's appeal. But on The Amazing Race it seems as though contestants go in expecting more cooperation from each other even though it is not required. Some players get offended when others treat it as an actual competition. I don't want to see TAR taken over by sleazy Survivor tactics (I hated Rob and Amber on TAR) but there was nothing wrong with one team not letting another team see how they completed a task.

It was ironic seeing Nicole beg to look at Jamal's xylophone, right after having the "we u-turned you because you lied" confrontation.

The most curious thing in this week's episode wasn't part of the race, it was watching those elephants eat whole watermelons!

For me at least 90% of my interest in AR is seeing the places they go and things they do. Feeding the elephants was a good example, as was seeing the general state of the zoo in Bandung (which looks about par for the course for many of the zoo's I have seen in my travels). The cast is more a necessary annoyance!
