Barry is a common first name, but George is an uncommon last name. Maybe we should axe Barry Diller and use Phyllis Diller for Phyllis George? We've got to get rid of one of the two Fox matches anyway.

Once I saw this answer, I quickly figured this one out:
69. Nobody knows if this fictional TV character would be as well-remembered today if he were still known by his original name of Sonny Friendly.
This is Guy Smiley of the Muppet show, which means that Smiley Burnette is one of the links.

42. Absurd as it may seem, this comedian's parents thought that writing comedy as a teenager was a mental disorder, so they sent him to a psychoanalyst. After one visit, the psychoanalyst told him, "It's them, not you."

Can this be the late BILL HICKS?

I seem to recall something but I can't pinpoint that it's him. And he does fit alphabetically.

A few more observations:

We have two Louises, Mandrell and Slaughter, so I imagine LOUISE MANDRELL should be matched with FLETCHER CHRISTIAN to free up LOUISE SLAUGHTER for her last name.

Phyllis George's word is probably NFL.

Shannon Elizabeth's word is probably Pie.

43. GRANT HILL doesn't match up with 38. VALERIE HARPER, but with 37. BUDDY HACKETT to make Grant Hackett (Swimming).

I think 32. DEBORAH GIBSON matches with 36. ALLEN GREGORY to make Deborah Allen (Different). It's more often Debbie Allen, but Deborah Gibson also went by Debbie for quite a while.

66. Unbeknownst to him, this actor's lifelong love of flying would eventually lead to his witnessing one of the most tragic events in American history. He was flying his Beechcraft Baron directly over the World Trade Center at the exact moment that the first plane flew into it.

This is Cliff Robertson

I'll bet 34. NANCY GRACE matches with 18. DREW CAREY for Nancy Drew (Clock).

76. ANTHONY WAYNE + 12. JAMES BRADY = Wayne Brady (Line)

I don't think that works, because Grant is a first name in both matches and Hackett is a last name in both matches. You can only make Grant Hackett out of somebody whose last name is Grant (or whose first name is Hackett).

True! Maybe one of the unanswered questions has the last name Grant; I was so pleased with myself!

Identify the 77 people and fictional characters based on the clues below. Using each answer only once, form 26 matches of 3 names and 2 of the associated words in the Word List based on a Tangredi, or hidden principle that you must discover for yourself. There may be alternate matches, but only one configuration will allow you to complete the puzzle.

Now I'm sure that most of you are sitting there, demanding that I check my math. "If there are 77 names and each can be used only once, you can't make 26 triplets because 77 isn't divisible by 3." Well, that's the Fireball twist this time around. You have to identify this clueless person on your own in order to complete the 26th and final triplet.

4. Riding high with eleven career #1 hits on the Billboard country chart, she was also the first country singer to win an American Music Award.

Could this be LYNN ANDERSON? with I Never Promised You a Rose Garden.

AND It could complete the Marion Barry pairing to give us BARRY LYNN, who heads the council for the separation of church and state and is on the news alot.

14. An astonished Leontyne Price was among the guests at a party where he announced that he was leaving the wine business to pursue his acting career.

I should have gotten this earlier!

It's ROSCOE LEE BROWNE.

He's originally from Woodbury, NJ, right outside of Philadelphia and was mentioned in his local obits when he died a couple years ago.

It goes something like this -- he was working for someone like the Bronfman family (?) as a representative (or something like that) and was tired of people telling him he should be an actor with that voice. I may not have the details right but I know I have the right actor.

We have Gary Cooper availiable, so if Marion Barry is used that way, a complete trio would give us Anderson Cooper (talk). But the Francis Marion (fox) match also seems pretty solid.

The second Talk guy could be Clark Howard, to complete the Dick Clark trio using Ron Howard.

Well, then, this one must be somebody whose last name is Jackson, and whose first name makes a last name:
47. He recorded over 40 jazz albums before his death in 1987, but he was perhaps better known as the second husband of the R&B legend whose backing band he led.

Here's a possible:

66. CLIFF ROBERTSON + 51. RICHARD LEWIS + ???????? = Cliff Richard (Talk) + Lewis ?????

One of Cliff Richard's big hits was We Don't Talk Anymore
Maybe pairs with Karen Black to make Lewis Black?

In this consolidation:

--Every answer is correct, including the two answers with question marks! (You should have no problem figuring out #24's first name now.)

(Actually, I overlooked one thing. The team's collective answer to #12 is technically wrong, although the surname is correct and doesn't affect gameplay. It isn't Wyatt Brady or James Brady, but Mathew Brady.)

In the matches:

--One name is still in an incorrect trio.
--One correct derived name is still paired with an incorrect associated word.
