Malaysia has a unique interpretation of Islam. They passed a law prohibiting non-Muslim religions from using the name Allah, even though Allah is the Malay word for God, and it appears thousands of times in Malay translations of the Bible.

A Malaysian government official has decided that the law applies only to publications like the weekly
Catholic Herald, not to Bibles and prayer books. This decision was greeted with relief by Christians, and disappointment by Muslim hard-liners.
