Wardrobe help?

I wear a lot of black. I mean, a lot. (Yes, I was a goth. It happens to people.) I'm looking at the wardrobe requirements and I do not actually own three outfits that meet the requirements. Normally I'd go shopping, but I really can't afford to if I can help it.The few colored tops I own are sleeveless/skimpy and are not appropriate without a cardigan or jacket on top. And the only cardigans and jackets I own are...you guessed it, solid black. I own one dress I could possibly wear, but I need three outfits. The only other thing in my closet that has a color is...a hockey jersey. Am I going to be able to get away with a black cardigan, or is that a complete "no way" event?

You shouldn't wear black. You can probably buy three tops at Kohl's or similar that will work.

Buy three new outfits and leave the tags on them. Tell Cedric that if you don't win enough money, you'll have to take them back to the store.

Do you work in an office with some other women around your size? Try to borrow some from them, or get thee to your nearest thrift store. You can probably pick up 3 or four tops, with sleeves, for under $15.00.

Don't stress about your wardrobe. At my taping they approved everyone even the people that "broke" the rules. Wear what you feel the best in and get one extra top.

Scarves are a great accessory and not expensive. Or a statement necklace and earrings to match. Black is fine if you accessorize it.

Do you work in an office with some other women around your size? Try to borrow some from them, or get thee to your nearest thrift store. You can probably pick up 3 or four tops, with sleeves, for under $15.00.

I'm not working right now and don't know many folks my size anyway, so borrowing isn't likely. A lot of my buddies happen to be guys, so, that's maybe not a thing. (Note to self. make at least one close size 12 petite friend for television purposes! )

I'm going to send in one photo of a borderline offending outfit because I auditioned in it, really like it, and I was complimented on it at the audition. If they say no, I'll have to shop, I guess. I have one other dress that I don't like, but don't hate either, that should fit the requirements, and I'll have to go really super boring to make a third outfit happen, but I could pull together something passable. I'm just thinking that basically, the clothing I have that "works" for their purposes doesn't reflect my personal style or personality. Which doesn't shock me, I keep a couple of "generic" outfits on hand for when my normal clothing isn't conservative enough or when wearing head to toe black isn't a good idea. And that's the stuff I'm looking at. I'll figure something out. I'm also not happy with the photos of my outfits that we took. Somehow my husband made them all look like mugshots. This too will pass.

They don't care that much about wardrobe as long as it doesn't have logos (legal issues) or vertical stripes (they strobe on t.v.).

If you're worried, buy a scarf in your favorite color. I spent a fortune I didn't have on clothes and no one cared.

BTW, the green room is freezing. Bring something warm to cover up in. And you have to stand (and maybe walk onto the set) so be comfortable. You can also wear jeans as long as they aren't tatty.

Thanks, that's super helpful. I haven't heard anything back regarding the photos of possible outfits I sent in, so I'm going to assume silence means consent until I hear otherwise. And yikes on the green room, I'm always freezing, so I'll definitely bring a sweatshirt or something to shiver in.

If you wear a necklace, be forewarned, they made me remove my necklace because it made too much noise when I moved! Whatever you decide to wear, just make sure it's something you feel comfy in, that's key! Good luck!!!

That's funny. I have no idea if any of my jewelry is noisy. I guess I'll find out.
