Seems like one of the easier stacks here. Knowing MTV bowed in 1981 and Born on the Bayou is CCR are pretty basic music trivia stuff, and not the recent pop culture stuff the show is known for of late. Tintinnare=tintinnabulation=Bells made the $100K one of the easier $100K questions in recent memory. Formic acid= Ants are known to the cruciverbalists I guess. Some people here would have gotten through $250K with all three lifelines.

Interesting that the last three questions could all be killed with knowledge of romance languages. Can't think of any English words that come from "limpiar", though.

There's only one answer in the $100K question that has a comma in it. And only two that might have a "negative" in it that goes with "non". And only one that has a word that goes with "oscillas". Additionally, knowing the other meaning of "Si" in Spanish also kills the question.

Formic acid is contained in ant venom. "Formica" is also also the scientific name for a genus of ants - and various forms of the word are also used to identify the higher levels of the taxonomy. From my instant wiki-research, the material Formica isn't directly derived from that word - its etymology is that it's a brand name that was created by joining the two words "for mica", with "mica" being a mineral that Formica was meant to replace in electrical insulation.

Although I'm a big music fan, I would have ATAed on the CCR song. I've heard -of- "Born on the Bayou", or at least heard the phrase, but after YouTubing it, never heard it. It's the B-side of "Proud Mary", which I definitely did know was a CCR song with a popular cover by Tina Turner.

Other than that ATA, I'd skate through this stack - which doesn't prove that I'm good at trivia. It proves that WWTBAM is getting MUCH easier this season - there have been a ton of "Classic Millionaire" games, haven't there?

This was mentioned on an episode of 60 Minutes. While "Chinatowns" are heavily populated by Chinese immigrants, Thames Town is populated by...nobody. It's one of many Chinese cities being built and sold on speculation, that are essentially ghost towns. Beware when this real estate bubble bursts!

Thames Town, though, has one thing going for it. The quaint, pseudo-British architecture has made it a popular site for weddings.

I think this stack was atypical. Most $100K questions are WWOQs, and we haven't seen enough $250K questions to decide what's normal at that level.

Definitely an atypical stack for all SyndieBAMs, but I may start distinguishing between the more difficult Viera-era and the easier Cedric-era. I picked a transcript from this season at semi-random to find a $100K question from this season, and remembered the question from when it aired: Basically, how many marathons make up the equator. If Boston to LA is 3,000 miles and 3 time zones, then 24 time zones is 24,000 miles. Bump it up to 25K for easier computation, and to correct for the fact that there may be a few extra miles on either edge of the time zone, as well as for the fact that the equator is bigger than the circle at Boston/LA's latitude. Divide by 26.2, and you get something under 1000. 950 was an option.

I don't think I've ever had an answer come that easy on a Viera 100K question. Sometimes it's a WWOQ, but sometimes it's even a WGAS, or a WTFSIKT.
