Vantage Point

#1 Post by MarleysGh0st » Tue Mar 18, 2008 7:56 am

I went to see this thriller last night. As the tagline says: 8 Strangers. 8 Points of View. 1 Truth. We see a presidential assasination at an international summit on terror in Spain. Then we see it again. And again. And again...

It's appropriate that Matthew Fox (Jack from "Lost") is one of the stars of this movie, because, while each viewpoint gives us some clues as to what's happening, it also opens up new mysteries and leaves us with another cliffhanger, leading to a crescendo that brings all the viewpoints back together.

Some of the plot twists may be "cinematic" in their level of believability, but it's a wild ride!

The only thing that could have saved this movie (for me anyway) would be to have Bill Murray show up in a scene. :D Admit it Marley, you did think of Bill at some point in the movie. I did not like it.

No, that did not occur to me.

Bill could have strolled through the plaza and taken care of everything without breaking stride. But only if the summit had opened on Groundhog Day! :P

I loved it!

I didn't think it could or would ever happen in real life. I was on the edge of my seat, thinking and had my heart pumping.

I hated the preachness of the "this war will never end' nonsense. I hated the things that would not have happened - come on, Dennis' character would have been dead after that carsh and no one would be running through a crowded square and firing their gun.

I loved not having it figured out.

It kept me awake.
