OK, I'll ask: What is that referring to?

I think that it has to do with some sort of sporting event team that he likes.

The very last team revealed on the television show announcing the field for the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship tournament was Baylor. --Bob

Okay. I'll bite. How come you didn't know about the rankings?

Baylor was on the bubble. There was a very realistic chance that it wouldn't make the field.

If you're asking why he didn't know in advance, the television program we're discussing is where the field is revealed, live. Until the show aired, the general public didn't know the field. --Bob

Hey Bob, or anyone else who knows -- what's the deal with UCLA's uniforms this year? The "C" is a different color than the "U_LA." Is there some significance to this or do they just think it looks cool? If this is general knowledge, it somehow escaped me.

I know the general public didn't know the field until it was revealed live. We watched it. I was just curious that he wasn't in the general "guy" field of knowing, or"girl" field, for that matter, that this was selection Sunday and that.
Of course, if one doesn't care about college basketball I understand. Not everybody does. But, Cal's post was sort of a shout out to anyone who does and Bob's question suggested to me that he might not recognize what Cal was shouting out about. That's all.
Well, then

It is fairly common knowledge in collegiate sports this year (as announcers usually bring it up during a game or match).

The Golden C is to celebrate UCLA's nation-leading 100 NCAA championships in sports.

Thanks, Appa. It's sure to be a trivia question sooner or later.

Is 100 the total for men only, or men and women. Do the women's uniforms also have the off-color C?

And since they're using Roman Numerals, did they do the same thing to the L when they won their 50th championship?

Don't know about the 50th/L.

It is for total men's and women's championships, and I know that the women's volleyball team featured the Golden C on their jerseys, as UCLA and Nebraska played at the start of the 2007 season, here in Omaha (Amateur Sports Capital of the Nation).

I checked my photos......w bball and m vball both feature the highlighted "C". The baseball team has "Bruins" emblazoned on the front of their uniform. Their baseball cap has a "B".
I believe in the usefulness of useless information.

Indianapolis will take exception to that last statement.

It is becoming an advertising/marketing point around these parts.

In the span of one year, Omaha will host the national championship tournaments for baseball (as it has for over 50 years) and volleyball, the first two rounds of the NCAA men's basketball tournament, and the Olympic Swimming Trials. In addition, one will find the USA Track and Field National Junior Olympics in Omaha, plus national youth volleyball, baseball, and softball tournaments. Plus, you can add in nationally-ranked teams and sellout crowds for several sports at Creighton and Nebraska.

We may not have a pro team (besides AAA baseball and some AFL knockoff team), but we support the heck out of amateur sports.

Advertising? Marketing? Why, I had been led to believe that Omaha was the actual center of the known universe!

They can market it all they want in Omaha but that don't make it so.
