I've heard that Yo You Ma buys an extra ticket for his cello, but I didn't know the airline had made it official policy.

This is news to me. I get it because I eliminate tilde as that little schwa looking thingie at the upper left of your keyboard, umlaut is the two German dots, and ampersand the and sign.

If five had been there, I woulda been going home. Pretty sure I woulda pulled the trigger on 10.

"Single-pitted" is enough to get this one.

It's certainly not 2 and it's not 100. I've only been to one IMAX theater. I'll JTQ.

It's not orange because oranges have multiple seeds. The same is true for pomegranates. So I'm torn between mango and papaya. Given the recent upsurge in mango-containing items on menus (mango chutney, mango salsa, etc.) I'll go with mangos.

Question 1 - Sporty Skills
Being a good "ball handler" is an important skill in which one of these popular sports?
A. Archery B. Kayaking
C. Wrestling D. Basketball

C:WRESTLING!! FINAL ANSWER. OUCH!

Question 2 - Travel Companions
American Airlines requires an extra seat be purchased when carrying-on what stringed instrument, which must remain seat belted at all times?
A. Banjo B. Violin
C. Guitar D. Cello

all those views of Yo-Yo Ma travelling to somewhere with interesting indigenous music....

Question 3 - Safety First
Able to divert lightning around you and into the ground during a storm, your car performs similarly to which of these inventions in the field of electricity?
A. Leyden jar B. Tesla coil
C. Faraday cage D. Kelvin bridge

vague reminiscence of Faraday. It has now been 42 friggin years since Berkeley Course in Physics volII Electricity and Magnetism.

Question 4 - On Your Marks
The small diacritical mark over the final "e" in Beyoncé's name is called a what?
A. Tilde B. Umlaut
C. Acute accent D. Ampersand

"accent aigu" around here.

Question 5 - Word Origins
The word "zany" comes from Zanni, the name of what popular characters in Italian Renaissance theater?
A. Soldiers B. Princesses
C. Clowns D. Maids

now this I did not know. given that over the past several decades "zany antics" has been a disparaging phrase for comic acts with boring and predictable physical material. with this background probably should not be used disparagingly, any more than you would say "He's so 'commedia del'arte' " negatively.

Question 6 - The Big Screen
An IMAX screen is approximately how many times larger than a standard movie screen?
A. 2 B. 10
C. 50 D. 100

Probably decades since i've seen IMAX, and I might have got shmucked on this question, given the general tendency to underestimate ratios of areas, I might have assumed the question writers put the options on the low side and picked C or even D. a little overthinking is a dangerous thing.

Question 7 - Fruitful Facts
While not as popular in the U.S., what single-pitted staple of Italian, South Asian and Latin cuisine is one of the most consumed fruits in the world?
A. Orange B. Mango
C. Papaya D. Pomegranate

easily mango.
