I am delighted to hear that the ping pong table is now in your possession. When all your chat friends converge upon your house for dinner, we can use it for a large dining table so we can eat together. (You will supply the KFC. I will chip in for the green beans. Kay and Fanny have a zillion BB&B coupons for cloth napkins.)

No, the event has not yet been scheduled. When it is, we may not tell you.

Groooooooooan. i gotta get my Late Nite computer fired up. This is killing me!

First, there's a small matter of finishing cleanup on the clothes washing detergent I spilled, moving six boxes of books which SteelersFan somewhat inconsiderately stacked up against the computer desk, hanging the living room curtains so nobody can use binoculars and steal our chat secrets . . . AARGH! I'M DYIN HERE!

My long national nightmare is over!!! I finally found someone who both wanted and was willing to come and get the ping pong table that has spent the past 43 months in my garage! It was picked up this morning!!!

Now I have more room to store practical junk....

Yay!

Disposing of inherited possessions that, for one reason or another, you can't simply trash can be quite an emotional burden.

Well, when I used the word "inherit", I didn't mean it literally. It was a mandatory throw-in along with all the free secondhand furniture I got from one of my co-workers when I moved into this place 4 years ago. With no room to set it up, and nobody to play with anyway, it was useless to me and I let it be known anyone who wanted it just had to come out and get it. The nephews asked about it several times, but never bothered to arrange to get their dad and his truck out to pick it up....

My neighbors are tennis players and the husband had fond childhood memories of playing ping pong in the rec room when he was a kid, so he bought a table about 5 or 6 years ago. I think I saw them set it up maybe three times in the first week when they got it but ever since then, nada. It stays folded up against the wall along with the folding picnic tables...

Yes, I did got back to read the start of the thread. So, in this case, the ping pong table came with less emotional baggage, but you still hung on to it for four years.

Without making me re-read the several other pages of this thread, did you ever learn where Sister #1 lives? :P

Well, I didn't hang on to it willingly....

And to answer your question, I'm pretty sure she's moved three or four times since then.... and obviously, no!
