A law enforcement official reported an arrest has been made in the Boston Marathon bombing, and the suspect is slated to be brought to court.

The man has been taken into custody by U.S. Marshals, according to the Associated Press.

Investigators made a breakthrough Wednesday in identifying someone who may be responsible and had him in custody, according to CNN.

An official source told CNN that analysis of video from the Lord & Taylor department store on Boylston Street played a key role. That and footage from a local TV station showed a man who appeared to drop a bag in the area of the second blast.

The source called it "substantial progress" in the investigation. An FBI news conference is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET.

Apparently there is someone in custody that hasn't been arrested yet:
MSN wrote:News outlets reported Wednesday a suspect was in custody in the Boston Marathon bombings but later backed off as conflicting information emerged.

A law enforcement official told The Associated Press a suspect was due to appear in federal court. The official spoke Wednesday shortly after several media outlets reported that a suspect had been identified from surveillance video taken at a Lord & Taylor store between the two bomb blasts.

But other news outlets, including Reuters, quoted sources as saying no one was in custody.

An official news briefing was scheduled later Wednesday.

CNN reported investigators got key information in the case from an analysis of video from the department store near the site of the second explosion. Video from a Boston television station also contributed to the progress, a source told CNN.

An official briefed on the investigation told Boston.com that authorities have an image of a suspect carrying, and perhaps dropping, a black bag at the second bombing scene on Boylston Street.

Yep, you're not going to find anyone more right-wing than al-Qaeda.

I doubt Al Qaeda has patented these devices.

If you're a sicko who wants to build and detonate a bomb in a crowded urban environment, the best place to learn is from those with expertise at doing that.

Speculation is pointless and it's led to yesterday's silliness with the various networks printing and retracting stories left and right. That type of nonsense by the networks gives them, at best, a few minutes of exclusivity on a story, more often makes them look silly and sometimes serves to alert suspects so they can flee, hide evidence, or prepare for imminent police arrival.

Yeah, and me too. Looking silly, I mean. I assured my dentist's office yesterday that a suspect had been arrested. Then on the radio on the way home, I heard there had been no arrests.

There were hundreds of cameras withing shouting distance of the bombs. It's only a matter of time until the creep(s) is (are) hauled in.

Now it's being reported that one of the bastards has been captured, while the other one is on the run.

The shootout at Watertown followed the shooting at MIT and may be related to the bombing suspects.

They have also released better full-face photos as of about 2 a.m. Friday:

http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/ ... faces.html

It's only a matter of time. Too many people and cameras out there. With probably 100% of the people who took any pictures going over them again and again they will come up with better and better shots of these guys to ID them.

More news: One suspect has been shot and killed. An MIT campus cop is dead, and an MBTA policeman was also shot. An enormous manhunt is looking for another suspect, believed to be one of the Boston bombers.

The Associated Press identified the surviving suspect as Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, 19, of Cambridge, Mass. Sources told AP that both suspects were from a Russian region near Chechnya and have lived in the U.S. at least one year.

Massachusetts shut down all mass transit, including buses and trains, in Boston and surrounding suburbs, Kurt Schwartz, director of Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency said. Schools were closed and classes canceled at most universities.

He's the one in the white cap.

They had a huge quantity of explosives on them when they hijacked a car. The brother who was killed was wearing an explosive vest. It seems that they were intercepted just before they were going to do a suicidal attack.

They are worried about the other brother having an explosive vest too so have shut down the T and are asking everyone in the area (400K or so) to stay inside.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is a student at UMASS Dartmouth and was seen there this week AFTER the bombings #wcvb
That explains the lockdown.

My son has been there all week. Just thankful Tsarnaev didn't pull some shit on campus.
