Cool new John Deere bulldozer

#1 Post by andrewjackson » Fri Mar 14, 2008 11:41 am

My brother is an engineer for a parts/system supplier to ag machinery companies. He worked on the drive system for the new John Deere bulldozer.

Competely off-topic but a cool looking new bulldozer.

Quiet!

One John Deere on our property is enough.

"It's all about speed."

Cool. I always wanted to try drag-racing in a bulldozer. I suppose drag-dozing can become the rage among those for whom mud-bogging is much too calm.

My SIL does PR for Caterpillar, so I have to throw my support that way.

My brother has done some stuff for Cat but I don't think that it ever got built. His company does hydraulic power units (among other things). Cat was looking into different types of hydrostatic transmissions so he did some spec stuff for them. They make stuff for several different farm equipment companies so I'm sure they'd make stuff for both John Deere and Cat bulldozers if they could.

That parachute was pretty cool.

Shoulda warned me to turn the sound down. Almost woke up a sleeping baby when it came on. Looking for the sticker price for that jewel. High speed is not something you usually think of when you shop bulldozers. Probably a contractors nightmare initially.
