B4 Team-Check In

How are you doing with your health and fitness?

Bueno or not so bueno?

This was a mixed week for me:

The good:

Went to the Pelz short game school on Tuesday and brushed up on stuff. It was a beautiful day.

I went to the box doc for my annual checkup thingy. I don't like to go because I love my doctor but they are always behind there. Need to call for my mammogram. Doctor was impressed with how low my blood pressure was.

The bad:

My eating could have been healthier this week.

I'm packing to for my spring break trip and feel like I might get a migraine. That would be non-good.

An OK week, with good walks when it didn't rain, but I hit up the office bagels on Wednesday.

Following up on the colonoscopy last week, the polyps found were no problem. The nurse hooking me up to the monitors mentioned my heart rate was low (about 55), so I'm guessing all the walking really is helping.

So-so, some good gym days but I am lacking in portion control in the food department. No problem with the portion control last night however. Margaret decided to make meatloaf using ground turkey instead of beef. My response to her question of whether I liked it or not was "you don't need to make it like this again".

Didn't get to the gym as often as I like (I'll blame the time change) but I didn't snack as much as last week. There are advantages to having an empty fridge and cupboards!

I had a biopsy on a microcalcification in my left breast last Friday. It was a stereotactic biopsy. It was quite interesting to have that done and a bit stressful waiting for the results. I do not have cancer. They did discover that it was a papilloma.

I just started doing upper body weights after the biopsy. I was pleased that I could still do 40 push-ups and the same set of weight work.

My food choices this week were stress related. Not good.

But understandable.

I'm glad the tests were not way bad.

Pea, I am so sorry to hear that you have been fretting over this -- but happy to hear that the biopsy came out free from malignancy.

I have been taking various pills to suppress my cough, which I guess is good, though I wonder what cures the underlying condition. There was an antibiotic, but if the cause was viral, that isn't helping. We'll find out in a few more days when I finish the treatment, if I start coughing again.

I have not done much working out while this is going on, but will walk Sunday afternoon.

I just found out I have to be at school at 8:50 tomorrow morning for a presentation, instead of 11. Not good. I will have a very short class at noon and then come home and try to get a long nap.

I had to look up papilloma. So that's benign? That's very good news, Pea!

And the stress-related food choices are perfectly understandable.

It is benign. Sorry I was not clear. 14% - 17% of papillomas turn into cancer. If they were not sure that the entire papilloma was removed, they were going to have to go back in and get the rest of it. I am more than pleased that they took the entire thing out during the biopsy.

My surgeon (she does nothing but breasts) strongly suggested that I have some genetic counseling done and see if getting tested for the breast cancer gene would be indicated. It seems that a sister, a mom and an aunt with the disease may not be all bad luck.

Time for me to be responsible for more than just what I do to and for my body. Time for me to look further than that.
