I assume that there's already people out there who have managed to get a capture of Jin's headstone and translate it. Does anyone know what it says?
I do think that Jin isn't future dead but still on the island. They've kind of made it clear that the people who get off the island are keeping the fact that other are still alive quiet.
And, gee, I wonder, who Ben's spy on the ship could possibly be.

I think that Jin is still on the island as well. I just wonder why Hurley was able to go see the baby. Wasn't he in a mental institution not that long ago?

Someone has surely translated it by now, but I haven't seen that. I think I did catch one little detail: along with the Korean characters, there appeared to be the date of his death (in a vertical column) which I think said "2004 9..." That would appear to correspond to the date of the crash, not to when the "rescue" party arrived (they're up to Christmas 2004, now, right?). So he may well be on the island still. His father-in-law would be none too happy with Jin, if he returned to Korea.
It's hard to tell when Sun's flash-forward takes place compared to the flash-forwards we've already seen for Hurley. He did seem a lot more together than we've ever seen before. Maybe the help helped.

Which, of course, is the date of Oceanic Flight 815's crash.
Whether Jin is alive and left behind on the island (which would still account for Sun's sorrow) or dead at some point before the O6 left, folks are not telling the truth with that date of expiration.

So, we still don't know the full O6. We have Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, & Sun.
I figured out shortly after I saw the show last night that they threw us a curve. Sun's flashes were forward. Jin's were flashbacks.
When Jin got to the hospital and the guy said the baby was a boy, I thought the sinister forces represented by Abaddon had gotten to the baby.
My guess is that Jin really is dead. I see no way that he would voluntarily stay behind with Sun leaving.
I think the birth of Yi Jeong pre-dates Hurley's re-institution.

Jin's flashback would be in the year 2000. That was the Year of the Dragon.

Could they be counting Aaron among the six? How do they account for his appearance, if he wasn't on the passenger list (certainly not as Kate's son!) and if Claire isn't among those said to have survived the crash?
With that time warp around the island, I'm wondering if it isn't even more warped that we've been told? Could three month have passed on the island while only a few days have in the rest of the world?

From the previous episode, it's Christmastime for Penny when she receives the phone call from Desmond on the freighter, so the warping doesn't seem to be that severe.

Seems unlikely that multiple months have passed on the island and only a few days have passed "outside" since Ben had the tape of the Bosox World Series victory. That did not conclude until late October. Unless Ben can somehow "time travel" where and when he wants.
While I suppose Aaron could be one of the O6 it somehow seems unlikely. But I certainly have no clue about who it is or what has happened to Jin. I still wonder if the sixth person was the one in that casket. Although I am still inclined to think it was Michael. Of course he would be considered one of the six since he was on the flight manifest.
I suspect Michael will have a significant role in the conclusion of the series, whatever that proves to be.

Okay, scratch that question about the time warp.
You may be right about Michael. And where has Walt gone off to, then, when he's not appearing (taller) to Locke in visions?

I suspect Walt remains on the island and has developed a special "kinship" with Jacob. Whomever or whatever Jacob is...
Which would explain why Michael is still around and the comments by Ben (in the teaser for next week?) about one's willingness to do anything for one's child.

I don't see how there can be any dispute about whether Aaron is one of the Oceanic 6. The show where he was revealed as in Kate's custody was promoted with "you will learn the identity of another of the Oceanic 6". We already knew Kate and Jack were part of the O6 from last year's finale - in which Jack spoke to Kate of the lifetime air pass "that Oceanic gave US". The only other survivor in the episode, and the one shown off the island for the first time, was Aaron. Last night's show was promoted with "you will learn the LAST member of the Oceanic 6", so we must have known of 5 already: Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Aaron. I don't understand the argument that Aaron wouldn't be counted - he was on the plane, if only as a fetus, and he was obviously rescued, so why shouldn't he count?

Well, it's either Aaron or Ben, as the promo's for last night's episode said that the "last of the Oceanic six would be revealed". Since we now know that Jin isn't one of them, the only other folks we've seen in the flash-forwards have been Aaron and Ben. I'm assuming it's Aaron, counted as a survivor because techically he was on the plane (albeit as a passenger inside Mama).
Only way it's Ben is if he has assumed an identity (which itself is only possible if there was someone on that plane with no family or friends to identify him as an impostor...highly unlikely, although with Ben I s'pose anything is possible).
Gotta be Aaron.

Certainly he could be. Jack notes 8 survived the crash in his made up history of what happened during Kate's trial so that means Claire was presumably one, in order to have the child. Perhaps she died in childbirth according to the rewritten history. And so Aaron would be recognized as a survivor. Presumably Jin dies valiantly helping Sun escape so that she can have the child but to keep it simple they say he died in the crash?
I wonder if we will eventually learn the details of the 8 original "survivors" according to the story apparently concocted by those who did survive or if that will remain a mystery. Presumably whomever was in the coffin was not one of the Oceanic 6 or there would have been more attention given to his funeral by the press.

Speculation on NEXT week's show:
They said that next week, "someone dies".
Maybe Jin? Accounting for his absence in the flash forward? Perhaps. I still think he's alive.
My guess is:
Claire. If Kate's Aaron in the future is Claire's Aaron, I'm thinking Claire is no longer living. No way Kate has been legally given Aaron, since I highly doubt that they would let a fleeing felon adopt or assume guardianship of a child. Therefore the "real world" must believe that Aaron is Kate's natural born child. Kate's mother does, as she wanted to see her grandchild. Since I really don't think Claire would willingly give up Aaron, I think she's dead and Aaron has been passed off in this whole coverup thing as Kate's. Jack can't bear to see him because somehow he now knows that Aaron is his nephew and, whatever happened to Claire, Aaron is a living reminder and the pain (guilt?) is too much.
Why I may be way off base..
Claire is still alive and somehow was deceived into losing Aaron and is still on the island..which may be an even bigger reason for Jack's unwillingness to see the child because of overwhelming guilt.
OR.........
Aaron really is Kate's somehow (time is screwed up between the island and the real world), named after the first Aaron who is still on the island with Claire, and Sawyer is the baby daddy and Jack can't handle that.
I'm still guessing Claire kicks the bucket but what rocks about this show (and also makes it really freakin' frustrating) is that for every good theory there are always at least two or three or four-hundred alternative possibilities.
Sheesh.

I read an interview with the creators who said that people are spending more time speculating on who the other two who didn't make it were than was necessary. As they put it, Jack was telling a well rehearsed lie which was the "official" story, but the identity of the other two wasn't a big deal because it's all bullcrap anyway. In other words, it's just a fabricated load of hoohah that doesn't impact the big picture.
As I said in my previous post, I believe the world thinks Aaron is Kate's baby and not Claire's.

Yeah, I saw the same thing on one of the podcasts with the creators after poking around a bit. Since Kate refers to the child as her son I would guess you are correct. She is either pretending that Claire's child is hers for what ever reason (seems more likely) or did in fact have one of her own somehow which seems less likely somehow.
And you know Jack is going to eventually find out that he and Claire are related at some point. Not much reason to bring it up otherwise.
