Happy Pi Day to one and all

#1 Post by earendel » Fri Mar 14, 2008 6:16 am

Just don't celebrate the way that two teenagers did last year - they chose a random house, went up and knocked on the door. When a woman answered they asked her if she knew about Pi Day. She said she didn't, and they hit her in the face with a pie. The two were arrested on an assault charge.

My oldest son had to bring a pie into math class today.

No, I'm one of the few people in this town with no connection to Cornell or IC--didn't go there, don't work for them or for any other business that relies on the students to stay in business. But Dragon Day is one of the major local festivities around here.

One of these years, I'll actually go on campus to enjoy it!

I'm sure the geek world will go into paroxysms of ecstasy on that date, but for now, 3/14 will have to do.

Maddie's math class was going to celebrate today, but she is missing the festivities due to illness. Her teacher told her the tradition time to celebrate is at 1:59.

My first job out of college was here and I fell in love with the area. I took a job in Massachusetts and commuted from across the border in New Hampshire for a year, but I didn't like being in the suburbs again, so I moved back.

My long exposure to this liberal community may have cost me my membership in the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, though. :|

Stephen's school is doing it up, and in the process of helping a classmate memorize pi for a contest, he's gotten quite good himself.

I love my geeky kids!

I suspect the real reason has to do with early spring sun-bathing by the co-eds.

I suspect Marley finds lots of reasons to drive/walk through/visit the campus areas on the first string of really nice days.

Now the fact that there is a college located 15 miles from here that I have pressing reasons to visit in the spring in no way incriminates me in any similar activity to Marley.

The last sentence is what had me wonder why you are there.

Also, made me laugh.
