I still haven't had my question answered. What do you GET for that kind of money

I believe the assumption is one is paying for privacy and discretion as much as for quality. Um, it dint work.

Yup. For ultra wealthy people, $5000 is nothing. It would be like going to McDonalds and buying a Happy Meal.

I'm not sure that this is true, but someone told me that Roger Clemens bid $20000 to get a parking space for his son when his son was a junior in high school. Typically, only seniors get parking places but they auctioned off a few extras. To park his humvee.

"Inquiring minds want to know: What in the name of Heidi Fleiss do you get for that kind of money? Tag teams? A preview of the 79 virgins awaiting you? Whips and midgets? "

Naw, no Sex is worth that kind of money. Take it from me, Mrs. DS knows all the tricks and it still doesn't add up to $5500! :P

You know that kind of comment is a real temptation. I wanted to post something along the lines of "Well,I though she was worth the whole $5K", but I just couldn't bring myself to post such a thing.
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

I can't imagine he is that rich, is he?
Is that why they call it FU money?

An editorial in our local newspaper (some syndicated columnist) suggested that it wasn't what she could do that made her worth $5,500. It was the fact that she cost $5,500 that made her desirable. I liken it to automobiles - any car will get you from point A to point B, but some will buy a Mercedes, Cadillac or other luxury car just because they can. It separates them from the hoi polloi. I suspect that's what made "Kristen" worth the money.

They've done studies that say that people feel more effectiveness from drugs that are more expensive.

Or that people like wine better when they are told it is an expensive one.

I will add, as a German car snob, that expensive German cars are actually more fun to drive. I'm guessing that this is the reason why people buy them.

See, now I am just the opposite of all this. I prefer stuff that's cheap and considered "hoi polloi", and revile stuff that's expensive and considered a luxury (I have a lot of ghostjmf in me in that regard)...

Must be why I was only Client #484,765......

I am thinking that one has to be wealthy enough to afford to feel special at having something that is expensive, rather than feel like one got ripped off.

I am also thinking that what I just said makes no sense.

More than likely. Jessica Hahn and Donna Rice went the same route.
