Carmelo Cruz
Teaneck, NJ

Millionare has already brought Carmelo luck. He was out of work and literally while he was filling out the Millionaire questionaire, the phone rang with someone offering him a job.

Meredith asks the computer to randomize the money and the questions. The unrandomized Topic Tree is not shown.

This is heavily publicized and seems very attractive, but I've never made it over. In the past, they've also featured an arts and crafts fair in addition to the music. Maybe I'll try to go this year.

Just after elwing took a new job I got the call for BAM - she had only been at the company for a few days before she had to ask for time off to go with me to NYC. Fortunately her boss (and the company owner) was a huge BAM fan.

Actually he didn't misread the question - he correctly noted that hour hands would have to be shorter than minute hands, but then got confused (I guess). When the answer was revealed he said, "Just like I said" under his breath.

It refers to the ability of carbon to form long chains, usually with hydrogen items to form various hydrocarbons (octane, the primary component of gasoline, has an 8-carbon chain; complex sugars have 12-carbon chains, and so forth).

A Short History of Nearly Everything

From the Amazon review:
Take his description of carbon: "It is shamelessly promiscuous. It is the party animal of the atomic world, latching on to many other atoms (including itself) and holding tight, forming molecular conga lines of hearty robustness."
