Powerball #6 Willie Wilson
Here is the transcript of an NBC news story:
so if you didn't win the powerball, you may be curious about who did, there are two big winning tickets and the second largest jackpot in american history , in missouri and arizona , more from dearborn , missouri , where one of the tickets was sold. cary, also curious about the secret code imbed ed in the numbers.
>> reporter: very interesting, one ticket was sold here at this gas station , the other in arizona . now, so far the identities of people who bought the tickets are yet to be revealed in this, the largest powerball jackpot in u.s. history . in tiny dearborn , missouri , where just about everybody knows everybody, the question is, was it one of their own who bought a powerball ticket at the local market.
>> very exciting, we never, ever thought we would sell the winning ticket, and here it is, we did.
>> reporter: folks in this farming community off interstate 70 are now trying to figure out if the winners were figured out a certain way. dearborn is home of the royals baseball team . those winning lottery numbers? they match the hall of famers, brett, leonard, the powerball was wilson, the one outliar, bo jackson , the first athlete to be named an all-star in two major american sports , baseball and football. number two, gubicza, announcer, heard the theory all day.
>> i hope it is because they like the six in kansas city history.
>> reporter: and while it is a coincidence, the baseball spring training is in arizona , where the other ticket was sold, at this suburb outside phoenix. again, the question here? who bought the winning ticket.
>> yeah, yeah, this is excellent, i'm so surprised. it is wonderful, i would like to know who it is, because you know, fountain hills is a pretty small town and you know most everybody.
>> reporter: there are strong indications here that the ticket sold here went to a local family. the wife bought it, ten dollars for the ticket. she has been unemployed. actually had a job interview today. she didn't go. a press conference is planned at the local high school here tomorrow.
>> yeah, and who doesn't love a good juicy conspiracy theory . kerry sanders , thank you.

Someone here is dreaming, because any ticket played in honor of famous Royals is going to have #5 as the Powerball, and would not leave off 2/3 of the team's retired numbers.... Dick Howser (#10) and Frank White (#20)....

Now a story is going around that someone in Maryland has the AZ ticket, but knowing where Fountain Hills is it really doesn't seem likely unless he bought one for advance drawings while visiting there for Thanksgiving. You wouldn't pass through there casually.Bob Juch wrote:The Missouri winner used Quick Pick.minimetoo26 wrote:It happened last month in Boston, so reporters are probably looking for a pattern that doesn't exist: http://www.complex.com/sports/2012/10/e ... ox-playerslittlebeast13 wrote:

At the bingo parlor entrance there is a sign that reads "No smoking or talking".
You could not see the far side of the room because of the cigarette smoke. Nor could you hear yourself think.
I took a pic of sign but now can't find it. Wouldn't know how to post it anyway...

Things don't have to make sense to be true, though. It makes zero sense for some guy to FAKE having the winning ticket, but someone did it on Facebook AND in Maryland! Head-scratchers both...TheConfessor wrote:How could it be? That story never made any sense.Cleopatra wrote:No name released yet, but it's not the guy in Maryland.

Re: Huge Lottery
I think two things will happen to the Powerball jackpot once California is added:
1) It's going to get hit much more often, maybe to the point where they add another ball. (6 white + 1 red or 5 white + 2 red)
2) When it isn't won, it'll go up by $20-25 million instead of $10-15 million as it does now. Since the jackpot starts at $40 million, that means that after just three drawings it would hit the magic $100 million mark that gets all the casual players in to jack the pot up $30-50 at a time. Instead of having lottery fever, America would have a lottery low-grade fever.

The Poweball website shows no winners for the jackpot tonight 5/15, so Saturday's 5/18 is estimated to be about $475M. Hmmm should I see Star Trek in 2D and invest the money saved not going 3D on lottery tickets?CarShark wrote:Just bumping this up real quick because Powerball's back up to $360 million.

For both games, the odds on winning the Jackpot are around 1 in 175+ million. Powerball costs $2 and Mega Millions costs $1, so with Powerball now at $475 million, it's a slightly better deal. But still not a good deal, after taxes.CarShark wrote:Just bumping this up real quick because Powerball's back up to $360 million.
