Surprise Tuesday! Which means it's a little bit of everything. So that will either make everybody happy or everybody grumpy. I'm betting on the latter. Ha! I'm also taking the over on an over/under of 3 on the number of people who still aren't reading the opening and still won't put the title and artist for the Bonus Instrumental. I love it when there's action on something! Also remember, if there's a theme involved in the bonus, then the artists must fit the theme, if applicable (although that seems to only be an issue on standards day).

Bonus Instrumental: This massive work, completed in 1909, is widely considered among pianists to be the most difficult piece to play ever written. It certainly got the best of one pianist, whose life story was made into a movie that I consider to be the best ever to show just how much one can love the piano. Apparently the critics agreed, it was nominated for Best Picture (but lost to one of those crappy, boring epic things) and won a Best Actor Oscar for the portrayal of pianist David Helfgott. The composer (who also fits into today’s theme) left Russia shortly after the October Revolution and had, among pianists, the largest hand span ever recorded (Van Cliburn comes close).
