RIP Nora Ephron
Of leukemia. Age 71.
Turned her marriage to Carl Bernstein (OK, the break up of her marriage) into Heartburn.
Daughter of Oscar-nominated writers Phoebe and Henry Ephron.
Oscar winner for the screenplay of Silkwood.
Writer of wonderful romantic comedies - Sleepless in Seattle and When Harry Met Sally.

I have all of Nora Ephron's books in Wildwood. Wonderful beach reading. Wonderful rainy day reading.

Actually my friend, Jeff Arch, wrote Sleepless in Seattle, Nora directed it and also got credit for a minor rewrite. They actually "met" in the middle of the movie..when she went out to Seattle to check him out.

Heartburn blew me away, it was so high quality. I was expecting melodrama mixed with angst. It wasn't like that at all.
Sleepless in Seattle is wonderful, and my favorite is You've Got Mail. The music that plays over the opening credits always cheers me up. I wasn't going to buy it because it seems to come around on television every so often, but that won't always be the case. Guess I'll pick up a copy next time I see it.
