Why is Alex Trebek wearing a cast?

I've noticed on recent episodes of J! that Alex is wearing what looks like a cast on his right hand. I know he had a heart problem earlier this season, but what's the matter with his hand? Did he break it? Enquiring minds want to know.

"Jeopardy!" fans wondering what's wrong with show host Alex Trebek's right hand - he's been wearing a small brace this week - can relax. Trebek had some "minor hand surgery" relating to carpal tunnel syndrome, a show spokesman tells me.

Those 3x5 interview cards can get pretty heavy. Almost 24 years of carrying those things around.

I've had both my hands operated on for carpal tunnel. The right one in the mid eighties and the left in 2002. I did a fair amount of typing and a fair amount of crafts in my time but nothing that should have caused a problem. If you're inclined to these things, they just happen.
