Blood Simple
Excellent movie.
Really, really excellent. Rivals Fargo

Re: Blood Simple
It does. It's almost as good as Miller's Crossing. And Dan Hedaya is my favorite "that guy".TheCalvinator24 wrote:Excellent movie.

Fargo is just The One Everyone Knows About. Those guys are great.
Miller's Crossing has this LA Confidential vibe, so if you like that (and you should, dammit! It's great!) you will like Miller's Crossing. I think that's the one where Spiderman director Sam Raimi has a cameo as a cop during a shootout. And for the ladies, you get Gabriel Byrne instead of Guy Pearce.

I love the LA Confidential vibe-so I have added Miller's to my Netflix list(it joins about 200 others)-Thank You. I placed it #3. #1 right now is the Ransom of Red Chief-I think my boys should like that one.minimetoo26 wrote:Fargo is just The One Everyone Knows About. Those guys are great.

I member watching Raising Arizona in College-Late 80's-we loved it.
I own the movie-but I have not watched it for some time.

As far as I'm concerned, the Coens have only made two bad movies (out of 12, not including "Paris J'taime"): "Intolerable Cruelty" with George Clooney and Catherine Zeta-Jones, and "The Ladykillers" with Tom Hanks. And when it comes down to it, "The Ladykillers" was more disappointing than outright awful...it could have been so much better than it was.
But the other 10....oh, my. "Fargo" is still my personal favorite, but "Blood Simple" and "Raising Arizona" are right up there, as is "O Brother". But I love the lesser-known ones like the aforementioned "Miller's Crossing" and "Barton Fink" and especially "The Hudsucker Proxy" (which is vastly underrated, IMHO). And do NOT get me started on "The Big Lebowski" or I'll be here all night.

There is something wrong in a government where they who do the most have the least. There is something wrong when honesty wears a rag, and rascality a robe; when the loving, the tender, eat a crust while the infamous sit at banquets.
