Starfish continues to slowly creep away from the pack, as neither TBone or mrkelley seem capable of consistently gaining points on him. Fanny has worked her way back into a tie for third, but it's going to take a collapse by starfish over one of the last three games for any one of those three to have a chance to retake the lead. It is certainly Fishie's game to lose at this point....

Sure enough, starfish slips a bit and allows all three of his pursuers to get within single digits of catching him with just 2 games to go! With today's themed game worth 27 points, and of course the Friday finale, anything is still possible among that Top 4! Just behind them, Nelly finally catches up to TLITF, as they take their battle for 5th into the final games....

I really didn't think it would happen, but going into the final game we still have a four horse race! Another subpar game by starfish drops him out of the lead, with TBone's perfecto springing him into a 5 point lead. Both fanny and mrkelley lurk just 1 point behind starfish. Given that Friday games tend to be the Achilles heel for Mr. Bone, this game is about as wide open as it can be between the Top 4! Who will win in the thrilling conclusion of the Winter 2008 LS......??????

It was 2 months full of ups and downs, and the biggest twist was saved for last, as fanny overcomes missing the Valentine's Day game to snag first place back on the final day. TBone and mrkelley put up valiant efforts, but fell just short. Meanwhile starfish, who has won two of my past LS runs and finished second in the other one, pulls of a New York Mets-like collapse and goes from a double digit lead in the final week to a fourth place finish. TLITF blows Nelly out of the water on the final day to clinch the final spot in the Top 5.
To everyone who played in the Winter 2008 LS, I thank you for your participation. This was by far the most entertaining run of LS I have had... maybe my favorite game hosting experience on the Bored. While I can pretty much guarantee I will not be hosting anymore games this year (Yes, that includes TMOTTBG, which will not be back for Season 4), I would love to try this again the same time next year should there not be any other claims at the time....
Congratulations to fanny on her well-deserved win, and best of luck to her on hosting this month's LS. I will be answering everything with J.J. Cale....

I couldn't believe it. YAY!
I enjoyed the game very much, lb. Not only because you apparently watch VH1 Classic at the same times I do, but I appreciate a tightly run ship and your maniacal devotion to posting and scoring efficiently and promptly warms my heart.
And if I helped just one person discover JJ Cale, the man, the legend, the troubadour (sorry, Bob), it was worth it. Ha!
PS I selfishly ask if I do March LS will I get a credit in the annals for being the first person to run both QOD and LS to successful completion (I say successful completion because I don't know if the LS will be successful, but it will be completed. Ha!)?

This was my 4th LS I have run to completion, and I have also done 5 QoD's to a successful completion. I also have hosted 3 edition of Take Me Out To The Ballgame, 4 editions of the Bored Game (ah, memories!), The Bored History BB Challenge in May 2003, one run of TBOTS, and some other Bored history type game in 2002 that I'm blanking on what I called it..... but all were run to successful completion (and 4 of those were run within a 6 month span in 2003!)....

My lackey for the week is a teenager, so he is still in bed. It's great to pawn her off on him during the afternoons--he actually goes looking for her when she's napping! I just won't let him take her in the kayak. She's too squirmy and unpredictable for that. Maybe if they launched from a dock instead of our marsh...MinisKidToBeNamedLater wrote:minimetoo26 wrote:Oh, sure--I got nothing else to do right now.littlebeast13 wrote:

I felt like the guy sitting at the final table with a big chip stack lead who kept getting AK suited only to lose to QQ. I enjoyed it immensely, as I do during all of LB's LS games. Thanks again, LB. I'm looking forward to your next stint as LSMeister, as it seems that the only chance I every have of winning these things is if you and your musical tastes are in charge of the festivities!
