Guest host today on Millionaire

#1 Post by kayrharris » Mon Mar 03, 2008 9:56 am

Dave Price, CBS Morning Show weather guy. I had to look him up as I wasn't familiar with him. Bio says he auditioned for Bob Barker's replacement on TPIR. He mentioned all the things he's done...weatherman, reporter, acted in prime time dramas, scuba diver, licenced pilot, but he has never, ever hosted a game show. He asked the audience to "go easy on him".

I think he had a good time and seemed to interact well with the contestants. Maybe a step up from Al Roker.

I don't recall hearing anything about guest hosts this season. I thought that was TPTB's way of auditioning possible replacements last season, which became a moot point when Meredith renewed her contract.

The guy makes me crazy.

He seems like me on speed and then more speed.

He seemed pretty calm to me on the show today. I've never seen him on the Morning Show or anything else, so I can't compare it to his behavior on other shows.

Dave Price was the first person considered to become the new host of "The Price Is Right" after Bob retired.

He had a built-in advantage with the right name (or stage name).

You must have an unusual reaction to speed. The guy seemed pretty low-key to me. I'd never heard of Dave Price until half an hour ago, but he seemed to do an okay job. He made an amusing comment or two ("trust yourself"), but mostly just read the questions and didn't appear to think he was more important than the contestants or the show. When Roker did it, he seemed to think we had tuned in mainly to watch him.

No Meredith this week!

#8 Post by 15QuestionsAway » Mon Mar 03, 2008 1:49 pm

I had no clue this was coming either.

However, I verified that the last taping date for season 6 was originally set for last November 7.

This week's shows were taped last November 8, and I remember that this taping date was added at the last minute. This week's shows were the last ones taped for season 6.

Perhaps five shows were added to try out this host - if not for Millionaire then for some other upcoming Michael Davies project.

Or perhaps taping slipped a bit and Meredith was available or committed only through November 7. For most of season 6, five shows were taped per day instead of the four that was typical in previous seasons.

Interesting. So, they've taken these episodes out of order, but they're not exciting enough to have promoted and run them during a sweeps month.
