With two karaoke game shows on TV now, it’s only fair that we play the Bored version of karaoke. Rickey Minor and the band will be playing songs from a variety of decades and genres. Once the band stops and the words disappear from the screen, you’ll have to complete the lyrics. Just like on both shows, the lyrics have to be exact to get credit. The first 15 songs will have between 3-6 words missing. The bonus song will have significantly more words missing, but will be worth 5 points.

Warm up those singing voices... and let’s play!

Answers are due by Monday at 5 PM Eastern.

1. “What’d I Say”, Ray Charles (1959) - 5 missing words

Hey mama, don't you treat me wrong
Come and love your daddy all night long
All right now
Hey hey
All right
See the girl with the diamond ring
She knows how to shake that thing
All right now now now
Hey hey, hey hey
Tell your mama, tell your pa
I'm gonna take you back to Arkansaw

2. “Sweet Dreams”, Patsy Cline (1963) - 3 missing words

Sweet dreams of you
Every night I go through
Why can't I forget you and start my life anew
Instead of having sweet dreams about you?
You don't love me, it's plain
I should know I'll never have love again

3. “That’s Life”, Frank Sinatra (1967) - 5 missing words

I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate,
A poet, a pawn, and a king.
I've been up and down and over and out
And I know one thing
Each time I find myself flat on my face,
I pick myself up and get back in the race

4. “Honky Tonk Women”, the Rolling Stones (1969) - 5 missing words

I met a gin-soaked barroom queen in Memphis
She tried to take me upstairs for a ride
She had to heave me right across her shoulder
'Cause I just can't seem to drink her off my mind

5. “Kodachrome”, Paul Simon (1973) - 3 missing words

Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world's a sunny day.
6. “Nobody Does It Better”, Carly Simon (1977) - 6 missing words

Nobody does it better, makes me feel sad for the rest
Nobody does it half as good as you, baby, you're the best
I wasn't lookin' but somehow you found me
I tried to hide from your love light
But like heaven above me, the spy who loved me
Is keepin all my secrets safe tonight.

There is a reason I don't play Lyrically Speaking...
NellyLunatic1980 wrote:Rules: viewtopic.php?p=40443#40443

With two karaoke game shows on TV now, it’s only fair that we play the Bored version of karaoke. Rickey Minor and the band will be playing songs from a variety of decades and genres. Once the band stops and the words disappear from the screen, you’ll have to complete the lyrics. Just like on both shows, the lyrics have to be exact to get credit. The first 15 songs will have between 3-6 words missing. The bonus song will have significantly more words missing, but will be worth 5 points.

Warm up those singing voices... and let’s play!

Answers are due by Monday at 5 PM Eastern.

That's the only one I know, Mr. Nelly. Sometimes people have trouble understanding me because I speak English with an accent. It works the other way, too. I often have trouble figuring out what words two-footers are singing. I don't know why it's harder to figure out singing than speaking, but it just is. With my opera, I already know what the words are, so that's not so bad.

I will try to do better on the next question.

Seeing the dates listed made me realize that I am clueless on most music since 1984. That's the year Darling Daughter was born. Evidently I became old that year, and stopped listening to new music! The exceptions are songs used in my post-baby aerobics classes.
