She doesn't know "the butcher, the baker, and the candlestick-maker" even though she's taught several elementary grades, and she can't work out that Beijing has three dotted letters in a row, yet she apparently has no trouble calculating that a lean of .26 degrees that causes an 18 inch displacement at the top translates to a height of approximately (180/(.26*3.14)) * (18 /12), or about 330 ft., which is way too tall to be the Statue of Liberty and way too short to be the Eiffel Tower or the Space Needle.

Or was it just a wild guess, since she was out of lifelines?

Ummm, IIRC, she said something about hearing a news story about Big Ben leaning. If she did any trigonometric calculations to confirm that hunch, she didn't verbalize them.

When the "dotted letters" question was first revealed, I had a moment of confusion, wondering which foreign diacritical marks would count--umlauts only? Then I realized that they were referring to the English names of those foreign capitals and I could stop overthinking the question after "iji".

I got a graduation card from President Reagan (Nancy also signed it) in 1984 when I graduated from high school I also have a letter from him that is written on White House stationery. Too bad someone else beat me to using that as an audition hook!
